How much Halloween candy do you buy?
For trick-or-treaters, I mean. I haven't had a chance to ask my neighbors yet but I had a coupon that was expiring so I bought six bags yesterday. I am hoping that's enough! It's like 100 pieces of candy. I am also hoping my willpower will be strong enough to keep those bags sealed until 10/31.
Re: How much Halloween candy do you buy?
We don't get that many kids in our neighborhood so 1-2 decent sized bags is usually plenty for us. Then we (and by "we" it usually ends up meaning "I") eat the rest
I'm with Punky though, once you're out just turn the light off and you can get more next year if you want to!
last year was our first time with trick or treaters, and it even rained. I bought 3 bags of trick or treat candy, I think 70-80 pieces total. then we went through 4 bags of hershey's kisses, 2 bags of caramels, and found about 20 pieces of random candies around the house (pez, dove chocolates, etc), and finally had to turn off the lights at 7:30pm.
I think we're going to aim for 300 pieces of trick or treat candy this year, and several bags of hershey's kisses, which I could at least use in peanut butter cookies or for decorating cupcakes or something.
Our neighborhood is very residential, but it's small and kind of set apart from everything because of the park and football stadium. I think a lot of parents drive their kids over to us, though, which we didn't expect.
I assume you mean Gillette stadium... I know they officially moved Foxboro's Halloween to Saturday this year, but will you plan on seeing kids on Sunday as well? We have friends in Foxboro and they're going to make sure they have candy left over for Sunday in case there are kids who either didn't get the memo, or just want to go for it 2 nights in a row!
My neighborhood growing up was like that. It was very safe and had tons of houses, so kids from all over town would come trick-or-treating there. I think that's why I'm paranoid about running out of candy! We used to go through tons of it.
How do you find out if trick-or-treating was moved to Saturday? I will have to check my local papers... don't want to be caught off guard!
Only in Foxboro! Because there's a football game on Sunday, so Foxboro has moved Halloween to Saturday. Sorry, when you said you live near the stadium, I assumed it was Foxboro! I keep wondering if people in Foxboro will plan on having trick or treaters both nights!
sorry not to respond, I haven't been on much lately.
No, it's an area high school football team and some sort of minor league foot ball team's stadium, not Gillette (luckily! I heard about Foxboro changing Halloween).
