Two brides, one long overdue wedding
Someone asked me to write a blog post about the challenges we dealt with
in organizing a legal same-sex wedding. If anyone is interested,
the post is here.
Re: Two brides, one long overdue wedding
Wow! What an ordeal you both had to go through! I'm so glad everything worked out for you in the end. I hope you both have a long & happy life together!
Hopefully someday soon stories like yours will be just in history books & people will be free to marry whomever they choose, whereever they choose, without problems.
Really interesting. Oddly enough, the part that stood out to me was this:
"While NotFroofy was back in the UK, she went to her parents' house in Wales for Christmas. While she was there, she told her family (for the first time) that she was bi. She also explained that she had a girlfriend who lived 4,000 miles away in a different country, whom she had known in person for a week and a half, and that she was moving to be with me. Fortunately, her parents were unfazed by all this, and indeed thrilled that she had found someone to love. However, her father did have one important question: "2dBride is a Democrat, isn't she?""
I've heard enough "coming out" horror stories that it was really refreshing to hear how welcoming her parents were to the idea. Even if she had been straight, for parents to give the immediate blessing to move 4,000 miles away would have been rare... For them to be so accepting of everything? They sound priceless!
