In honor of our anniversary month
Post your most favorite memory of your wedding day (just one if you can) and your most favorite photo from that day.
Re: In honor of our anniversary month
a year out, my fondest memories are of people who were there to celebrate with me that are no longer here with me on earth... my Uncle died 3 months after our wedding, little baby Leo was there in a preppy shirt and vest and wasn't even remotely sick, and my Grandpa was there too. We had a rough year with people passing away and I'm so thankful that they were there to celebrate with us.
Fave happy memory - My Dad asking me if I was nervous just before we walked down the aisle and me telling him that I couldn't be nervous because I knew that I was walking down the aisle to meet the person I was meant to be with. He cried.
My favorite moment was walking down the aisle and seeing all the beaming faces, including DHs. Here are the 2 pics of that:
And my faves:
Sorry they're so big!
Of course, I have several favorite moments, but one that I will cherish forever came at the end of the night... they were playing the last song at the reception and I was dancing with DH. I was proud that I had only cried once during the day (at the beginning of walking down the aisle) and then all of a sudden, my emotions and how tired I was and how badly my feet hurt all started catching up to me. I started crying and of course, DH asked what was wrong. I looked around and I said, "it's all over." DH looked me in the eyes and said, "no, this is the beginning." It may sound cliche, but it makes me tear up even now. I love him so much and it was all captured for me in that one moment.
Of course, I have many favorite photos too! Here's one at random that I love...
OMG that is seriously sweet! Please make sure you document that in some special way. Your great-grandkids will thank you someday!
I'm sorry this will prob be long... I was so proud of myself for not crying much the day of the wedding. I woke up and got ready to go to the salon w/ my mommy (yes I still call her that, hehe). I was fine until my stylist started my hair. I got teary eyed a few times seeing it come together. When H's mom saw me (she met us at the salon) she got tears in her eyes and I started to, but held back. When I saw my mom's hair, I cried a little. She immediately bawled when she saw my hair and makeup all done. I did fine the rest of the day.
Right before we were about to walk down the aisle, my dad noticed my mom lose it and start crying. A lot. He was talking to me (we were obviously at the end of the line waiting to walk out) about how my mom was adorable for crying and that he hoped I wouldn't start myself (he is always such a nut & sarcastic). As soon as he said my mom was crying, I saw her face and fell apart. Here are some shots of right when he said that to me. Here you can see me start to cry (what a face!).

Here is when I noticed my dad started to cry. I've seen him cry twice my whole life.

Overall, I think these were my favorite parts of the entire day. My very prego baby sister (7 months along w/ twins!) putting on my garters.

My mom seeing me all put together; she is my hero.

Just one memory? Just one picture? No can do!
I think my overall favorite part of my wedding with the sustained sense of joy/bliss I had in the days around my wedding. I don't think I've ever been that happy at any point in my life for such a sustained period of time. But if you want specifics on my favorite parts of the day:
1) Getting flowers from my husband the morning of our wedding, with one of the sweetest notes he has ever written.
2) Being so jittery on the way to the church that I kept giving my aunt/uncle the wrong directions.
3) Having the church band bring down the house with this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpRCClg8pEY
4) The few minutes Dh and I spent in the bridal room before the reception, snacking on appetizers and taking everything in.
5) Dancing, dancing, dancing!!!!
Aww... everyone's stories are so sweet.
My favorite moment of the day was walking down the aisle and seeing my husband get teary. He's not a super emotional guy and it was really cute to see him get that way. The whole day was pretty amazing- spending such a huge moment in our lives with the people we loved and cared about most.
This is my favorite photo because I think it sums up how we felt all day:
Aw, I got a little teary reading everyone's stories...
My favorite moment was our first dance. DH and I really got to know each other learning and teaching swing dancing. While I enjoyed busting a few impressive moves, what I really loved about that moment was that the other people kind of melted into the background and it was just about the two of us:
I also really love this picture of my Mom and me before the ceremony:

Hands down...watching my daughter and husband dance. He has had 7 heart attacks and a stroke (long story...genetic problem) and I was never really sure that they would have that day, that dance. I cried like a baby...
Not sure what is up with the doubling!
My favorite photo of me???
My favorite moment is not sweet like all of yours but it was an amazing moment. We had gotten everyone together in the living room of my parents house and told them we were going to judge the constume contest and I had to go downstairs and get the prizes, but I was actually going down to get my parents, The Mr's mom and BF, the JP and our photographer. When I came back up empty handed everyone is like "where's the prizes" feeling busted we were like "ok, since we've got you all together we are going to tell you we've set a date for the wedding." and everyone was like wow and clapping and stuff and then we said "and it's tonight." You could have heard a pin drop. Everyone just looked at us like we were insane and then all the people from the basement came up and people freaked out! It was the best moment, people were stunned. We loved pulling off that surprise.
One of my favorite pictures of the day is a random photo that my sister took while we were walking around doing pro pictures. We had brought a bunch of balloons as a prop and my sister just snapped this pic and it just shows everything I wanted the day to be.
I don't have any photos to share, but here are my favorite memories from the day:
1. Getting a text from my best friend (wedding day photog) and DH almost simultaneously letting me know that MH had arrived at the courthouse and was ready to get married (he's never ready on time and I'm always early...on our wedding day: he got to the courthouse early and I just made it on time);
2. When MH and I were going through the ceremony with the judge my husband stumbled over a few words and we both started laughing; and
3. At the hotel we were upgraded to a suite and my in-laws sent us drinks as a congratulations on getting married.
I'm still surprised that it's been a year. Here's to working together toward an awesome future!
LOVE the pics, ladies! You're all so delish!
Here are a couple of pics. The obvious Las Vegas sign, and the other taken when we had some time to waste between the photo shoot and the ceremony- just hanging out with the photographer and having a much needed beer!
Favorite moment had to be after leaving dinner @ Canaletto, we strolled down the strip back to out hotel. People clapped and cheered like we were rock stars!
As they should. Can't think of a better day than your wedding to be a rock star!
I don't have any pics on my work computer, but some fav memories are:
1. My sister and my best friend (MH and BM) praying over me before we headed down to start the ceremony.
2. DH during the ceremony...he was SO nervous. I have never seen him nervous ever. He was holding my hands and rubbing his thumbs on my hand so hard and fast it was hurting me. It was cute.
3. DH smashed cake all up my nose and on my eye and into my hair so I had to clean up (he did too but not as bad as me) so we snuck off to the bathroom to wash off, that was the first (and really only) moment we were alone together and had a minute to reflect on our day....sitting there basking in the moment - in the bathroom. Haha
