  • I am so excited for our new mattress to get here! We are getting it on Friday, just in time for the weekend!

  • Two things:

    1) I made red velvet cake this week from scratch, and it came out awesome!  It's ready to go for Thanksgiving.

    2) I just (meaning 10 minutes ago) had a Law and Order moment - I identified a thief in our neighborhood out of a picture lineup after seeing him for 30 seconds 3 weeks ago!  Go me!

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

Impressive!  How'd they even find you to do that?

  • A neighbor noticed me leaving in the morning and asked if I had seen him, and then asked if they could give my number to the police.  I said that I couldn't guarantee anything, but sure.

  • That's crazy!

It's been a rough day.  Got my parking space stolen from under my bumper--almost literally!  Worried about grant funding for my job.  Then got nearly blocked into the parking spot I did find.

Then the power went out.  I am doing my webchat for class at the library--thank God for group study rooms!

I'm already looking forward to next week.

  • I'm watching househunters- and I'm trying to figure out how often it really rains in Chatsworth, California and why not having an attached garage is a deal breaker.  I think this guy needs to live in the midwest (and experience the beauty of lake effect snow) for a while, to gain some perspective :)  I'm guessing it doesn't rain much b/c they mentioned being in the fire zone for another house they looked at.
  • I was supposed to hear back from my job interview last week by now, so I am starting to lose hope. :(

On the flip side, I got a job interview with the Department of Finance today!  It's bittersweet though because I applied so long ago, things have changed and I don't know if the pay will be enough to sway me away from my current job.  Also, it's an Admin/HR position, and my assets are my management. DH thinks I might be too bored.  Anyways, I can't get ahead of myself and I'm very thankful for the opportunities!

  • Oh- and I am very thankful my husband does not have a very keen sense of smell.  I think I am going to smell for the rest of my career (unless I veer away from teaching one of the courses).  I love my job and will hopefully get used to the smell again... but I forgot that gross anatomy lab really does smell gross :)

  • Total vent:

I'm so stressing about bills lately. We had just went in September and upgraded all our phones...signed on to our bowling league...etc...because Matt was working full time, everything was good, we were doing fine.  Then 2 weeks later, completely unexpected, Matt lost his job.  Now we have higher bills, lower income, I'm stressing over Christmas...just our regular bills...how can I pay the $325.00 for my sons driving school he's supposed to have before January. My daughters b-day is the day after Christmas, my son turns sweet 16 two weeks later...and we are absolutely strapped. Uggg...

I'm applying for every job out there, even the crappy ones.  Prison nurse...I've applied. School nurse, ER nurse, Care Coordinator nurse. We've got 4 major nursing schools in our area, we're putting out about 450 new nurses twice a year in our area...so when you hear about the "nursing shortage" trust me...not around here there's not.  Crap...I'm about to just say screw it and go to Hickory Farms for the next few months.

Plus my psychotic sister has only gone up to see my mom one time since her surgery last week.  And when she did visit her, she bitched for an hour straight about what?  Yep...the fact that my dad wrote her out of the will. Still...a year and a half later. My poor mom.

  • Dear article,

I'm done writing you. I think I did pretty good the first time around. Please don't return into my inbox a third time, I'm not in the mood.

    Sincerely,

    Your creator

    Dear feet,

Why do you have to hurt everyday when I stand on you for work? I'm tired of it!

    Love,

    Your owner

I'm always surprised by the supposed "deal breakers" on these shows.

At this point, I'd be happy to have any garage--attached or not!  I've already had to scrape ice off my windows for the last three days.

  • Dear Appraisal Company,

Please send our Loan Officer the appraisal reports. It's been a week and I'm impatiently waiting to see how much of a deal we've made. We close in less than 2 weeks and you have been the slowest of the process.

    Sincerley,
Your Impatient First Time Home Buying Client

I know I shouldn't complain, but everything else has been so quick and this is dragging, or feels like it anyway. =/

  • My back is jacked up--hurts so much, a BFF has cancer (she's 31) and we got a new car I'm too afraid to drive because it's too fancy for me.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!  Okay, I feel better. Back to feeling very fortunate. Thanks for the vent!   :)
