Nah, unless they decide to create a senior writer/editor position. I hit the tip-top of my job a long time ago, but they kept on promising more. I'm looking for a new job now because they have never delivered.

Now that I officially freelance, though, hopefully I can get more clients and move in that direction. Big Smile

No. I'll get more senior, and take on more challenging projects, but I do not want my bosses job, and that's really the only place to move up here.

Nope. Only other positions would be management and they require an engineering degree.

Yes and no. Within my current department, no. But, within the university as a whole, most certainly. Of course moving up within the university actually involves applying for and interviewing for new jobs. The university system is actually a little tricky because since we are a public school all of our salaries are public information. So, if I interview for another job, they already know exactly what I'm currently making. It definitely makes negotiating a salary a little more challenging.

Nope - same situation as raynes. My boss is a professor and I'll never get my PhD or do that sort of thing.

I also work at a college, so there's plenty of room to grow, but none that I'm willing to work for, or at least not here. Our college is one of the most expensive, and yet the employees are some of the lowest paid in the region. It's sickening.

I did get a super not so fun rejection letter from a job app this morning. It went something like this, "It looks like you'd be a great asset to our company. However, we are not looking to hire an attorney for this position."

Well, that's awesome, considering I'm NOT one yet! Apparently he reads about as great as my current boss does.

It's been a long week at work already. Thankfully tomorrow is my Friday. ::vent over::

My job is kind of strange. It all depends on who I meet and what jobs I work and clients I get. I do know that at this point I don't want to own my own firm. I like the less stress that comes with jut being an employee.

I do. I want to move up levels as a youthworker and I would like to get my LCSW so I can counsel.

No, I don't. I work at a really small company as an HR Generalist. The only other position is for the HR Director and I just don't have the 15 years experience needed for that role. I also know this isn't a company where I would stay for another 5 years to gain that experience, nor would I want to be in that position at this company.

There is definitely room for me to grow, but I don't really want to go through the extra schooling to do so. To be a clinical specialist I would need to do a 1 or 2 year residency (taking a 60% pay cut that entire time) and I have no desire to have a management position.

My current job, sure. I could (and probably will) become Kitchen Manager at some point in the future, if I stay here. Although it's not what I want to be doing, so probably not.

No. I've become comfortable with my role n my unit at the hospital. My manager keeps asking me to join committies but that's just not me.

My current job, probably not unless one of the consultants or a manager leaves, which is highly unlikely. I am already starting to keep my eyes open for better things within the company.

Nope...you couldn't pay me enough to do administration. However, I may go back at some point and get my doctorate and then move to the college level and teach teachers Smile

Yep, but it's a long a difficult road. From what I know about my current firm (being there for a whole week and a half), it could take me another six years to make partner, but that's ok with me. As long as they give me good work to do, and the people are nice, the hours are decent, and the pay is good I'm happy waiting as long as it takes.

Nope. I work for a small non-profit and am the Director of Finance and Admin. The only move up would be to my boss's position (President). I don't see that happening because I don't think he'll leave any time soon and I don't think the Board would promote someone already on staff to that position if it became open.
