I'm kind of annoyed.

I had a guild meeting tonight - the Northern NJ Face & Body Art Guild.  I've been a member since its inception about a year ago, despite the fact that I really don't like the founder, D.  She's officious and attitudinal.  But she started it and runs it, so there's not much I can do about that except not belong, and it's worth it to me to belong... for networking purposes, for "free" classes (dues were $50 for the year, I think), and for marketing purposes I say that I'm a member on my website, which I think looks good).

Anyway, D vends glitter tattoo supplies, and another face painter, a friend of mine, vends face paint supplies at the meetings.  So I asked D at one point about bringing the soap & vending it there, especially since a lot of face painters are using Purity not only on themselves, but also to clean their brushes & sponges.  Apparently, our stuff gets their supplies cleaner than anything else they've ever used.  Well, in order to vend, I'd apparently need to offer guild members some crazy discount that would barely make our overhead or else "sponsor" coffee & donuts for that given meeting, for like 50 people.  That adds up!  So I never bothered to take her up on it.  Not worth it.

Tonight's meeting was a class by a terrific face painter, Kerry Ann, from Philly.  At the beginning of the class, D admonished all of us to let Kerry Ann talk about the products she uses and not to pipe up with our preferences.  OK, no problem.  Well, Kerry Ann uses both Purity for her face & supplies and one of our shampoos for her hair.  So she brought that up during class and plugged our business.  Awesome!

Well, that fukcing D immediately said, "... or Estee Lauder has these wipes..." WTF?!  Even Kerry Ann said to me afterwards that it was rude.  And apparently this woman's own rules apply to everyone except her.

So... yeah... annoyed.  Although some of the people around me did ask about the soap & for some info.

I'm thinking I'll email the photos I took to the whole group with a "by the way, if you want to check out that soap Kerry Ann was talking about, here's the link..."
