Thursday Randoms

Morning!

I almost backed into a landscaping truck this morning.  I wasn't paying attention when I was backing up and noticed headlights behind me.  We live at the end of a cul-de-sac, and there's rarely anyone on the street that early so I didn't think to look the other direction.  Oops.  My bad  Embarrassed

Nick has softball tonight, and if they win, they play twice, but not back to back. So there'll be an hour inbetween games (assuming they win).   I'm thinking I'll walk the dog to the park, then take her back with Nick's car and grab a warm Sbux beverage on my way back.

Re: Thursday Randoms

  • I used to always park on the street at my first house, and H (then BF) always parked in the alley.  Almost everytime I drove my car, I would back it up a little, and then do a U-turn and be on my way.  It became such habit that I never looked behind me (because no one was ever there.)

One day H parked behind me on the street.  We were going somewhere and for some reason I was going to drive us there.  I obviously saw his car when walking to mine.  But old habit kicked in when I sat in the drivers seat, I threw it in reverse and rammed his car!  It was so bad....and embarrassing.  Didn't cause any damage to my car, but I did to his.  Oops.

At our new house, we always park next to eachother in the driveway.  For some reason last night he parked behind me.  This morning after loading T into my car, he made a point to remind me that he was behind me...lol.  Gah.  I'll never live it down.

  • I already ate my mid morning snack and drank my bottle of water for lunch.
  • My Ludington family is coming into town today and want to meet for an early dinner at Marie Catrib's. I'm not 100% sure I want to go. I have been wanting to try that place but they think my Mom will be able to eat something there but when I checked the menu there wasn't anything she can because her diet is so strict. This should be fun.
  • I brought a pumpkin spice doughnut to work today for breakfast - a definite treat for me. I planned to fill my travel mug with apple cider to bring along and enjoy with the doughnut. Sadly, I forgot the cider, and now the treat just seems like empty calories. This is disappointing. Won't stop me from eating it, though.

  • Wop - Good Luck to your H tonight!

As far as backing up stories, the day before our wedding I went to meet my parents at the house and we were going to carpool to the rehearsal dinner.  I parked in the turn around, per usual.  My dad, not looking, backed into my car with his truck.  His truck won, and my car was nearly totalled.

Deeder - Marie Catrib's is delicious and has lots of healthy options.

And a pumpkin spice doughnut sounds amazing, enjoy every delicious bite.

  • So, I'm annoyed with craigslist sellers lately.  I've emailed sellers on 4 items yesterday afternoon.  I only heard back from one saying the item was available, but when I asked questions about it, I never got a response.  If it sold, cool, but at least tell me so I don't wait around.

  • My neighbor has surgery yesterday and dropped her keys somewhere in the building or outside. Anyways when she came home, she notcied that the door was slightly ajar. Her flat screen tv, a bunch of jewelry ( a lot of it was germany and her parents gave to her), and some other stuff. We think it's someone in the building or the building connected, but we think it is one of the downstairs apts. There are always about 10-12 teenagers hanging around or in our building. So who knows. She feels very violated and I would feel the same way. Her keys are also gone, vehicle title and important papers, etc.

I love Marie Catribs.  What kinds of things can't your mom eat?  They are really good there about special diets.  They have vegan options and gluten free options so they can easily help you avoid gluten, dairy and egg.

  • We want to get out to Holland to watch a sunset with the fall leaves and have a brew at New Holland and were planning on going tonight.  Now it looks like rain. Grr.

Hopefully if we go next week we'll still have some nice fall colors.

My Mom had fibomyoliga with IBS and Cronic Headaches. Dad & I think that a lot of her eating issue are in her head because the first thing she says when we try to suggest something is "it's a headache trigger I can't have that." She isn't very adventurous in eating she pretty much sticks to chicken plain with no seasoning potatoes and pasta with tomato sauce. Basicly she eats so incredibly unhealthy it drives Dad & myself insane. Both DH & myself along with my Dad think that if she could get over the issue of I can't eat this or that it would be a lot easier but you know the saying you can lead a horse to water but can't make her drink....yep that would be my Mom. Sadly I was raised by her so I have some of the same problems but at least I have started to add things to my diet that she would never do. She has been trying to lose weight for years and Dad has been trying to get her to eat better as well but it usually ends up being a 1 day diet. I could go on and on and on about it.

It's called " Berry Sangria ". Think Red Sangria and that is pretty much what it is. I'll have to post pic next week.

Sorry for the late reply, but just wanted you to know I read your response.  Man that must be frustrating.  Sounds like your mom must have a hard day-to-day existence with those three conditions.  No advice, but my heart goes out to you.  I can imagine how wearing that would be on your family.
