... why I always do a great workout, feel great, tell myself I'm going to keep up with it, and then don't. I am SO sore today. My arms hurt bad, my legs are aching, my abs really hate me. I know if I work out today it'll be half-asssed because I already sore.
How do you ladies do it?
Re: Ohh, now I remember...
Well, I love that soreness! I mean it hurts, but then you can limp around and tell people that you're sore because you worked out yesterday. Idunno, it's like a badge of honour. Much cooler than say, being sore because you fell down the stairs or something.
Give yourself a day or two of rest if you're sore. (I'm no expert but I remember an aerobic instructor telling me) the soreness is caused by micro-tears in your muscles, and they need to rebuild. That's how you tone up.
I find that if I work out again when I'm mildly, but not severely sore, it actually feels better FASTER. Weird eh? Keep up with it and it won't hurt like this. I was really sore during w1 of c25k but by w2 I didn't even feel it.

Okay, thanks! I was worried about not working out today, but I think I'll get back into it tomorrow. I need motivation, though.

What ringy said is very true!
You need to give your muscles time to repair. Rest and recovery is just as important as the workout itself.
You can either alternate which muscle groups you're working, as snoopy suggested, or if you do more full body activities, rest at least a day. Some type of light activity usually helps with the pain.
Also, when you just start something new, it will hurt like hell the first few times you do it, but as you keep going, the pain gets better.
To help with recovery make sure you drink plenty of water (half your body weight in oz, so if you weigh 140 lbs, aim for at least 70 oz) and get plenty of protein. Since you're a vegetarian, you might want to look at getting some whey protein powder (or hemp, or soy) to help with that. Egg whites are also very good!
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
Thank you! I do eat alot of soy protein, with chickpeas and lentils and veggie ground round. I am definitely going to look into getting some whey protein powder for shakes, and stuff.
