Weird, when you dry celery...
When you dry celery it smells like maple syrup! I'm dehydrating a large batch to put in soups over the winter, and the whole house spells like maple syrup. This is the first food I've dried which has an unusual smell, most don't have any smell at all. Just had to share

Re: Weird, when you dry celery...
How strange!!
I love celery.
Do you have a dehydrator or are you doing it in the oven?
That's really weird! I totally want to go buy a batch and dry some.
Apples made our house smell like apple cider. I want to go pick pears soon so I can dry a bunch of those. I hope they smell good, too!
Dehydrator. It's been a PITA to cut Farmer's Market celery into 1" lengths, but I really hope it will be worth it. We'll see, this is our first time trying it.
I am *really annoyed* that I messed up part of the prep yesterday. The first batch I made, I blanched them in a water-baking soda solution per the instructions that came with the dehydrator. I forgot to do that yesterday, and the celery is discolored and doesn't have nearly the celery smell as the first batch.
I hope it's still okay.
