So I've been looking for another job and I finally got a call today from a company I've been trying to get into. It's for a job that only requires a HS diploma so I'm not sure if they will pay me what I need. I told them I would do a interview, but I almost feel like it may be a step back instead of forward. Should I just do the interview and hope if I get offered the job they pay well? I also keep thinking I will have my degree in May and maybe I could get promoted within?! OK sorry for the rambling and thank you for listening.

Re: Advice Please
Do the interview anyway. Call your current job and say you have a doctors appointment or something and then go to the interview and go from there. See what the new place is willing to offer you. Don't decide either way until they tell you all of the facts. Usually in the interview, they'll tell you what you could be making, so don't make a decision either way until you dip your toe in the eater.
ETA: WATER, not eater.......
Yea you only need a HS diploma but you also need like 1-3 years of medical experience.
May 16th.. I will have my BA in Health Care Management so that's why I'm thinking twice.
If they don't tell you in the interview what the salary is, you should lay your expectations down on the table for them. Say "this is what I would expect to be making for this position, and here's why..." (your degree, experience, etc)
Also, you can tell them that you are willing to take the position for a lower rate of pay (obviously, only if you are) if it means that you will be considered for promotion and/or a raise when you graduate in May.
An interview is a two way street - yes, they are interviewing you to see if you're a good fit for them, but you are also interviewing THEM to see if what they are offering is right for you.
I have always found that interviews go a LOT better when I am asking questions as well, instead of just answering them
Good luck!
Thank you! I will definitely keep that in mind when I go to the interview. I've never really negotiated and I'm thinking I probably should
I hate traveling for work! I miss out on everything on here during the day.
I agree w/ everyone else though, take the interview and see where it goes and just be upfront about everything. good luck!
