555-123-4567

This is the phone number that comes up on my caller ID and when I pick up there was no one there or it started to ring busy. After it happened 3 times last week there was finally a voice. They were calling from the Ohio Survey Board and wanted to ask a few questions. I told them to put me on their do not call list. I got another call from them Tuesday and one more yesterday - both times I said I already requested the do not call list. They apologized and said they would note it again.. The question is: how long do they have to get my off their list before I contact someone so they get in trouble and leave me the F alone?

  • I think it's 2 weeks before you can contact someone but I'm not sure. We have numbers calling us asking for someone who doesn't live here. We even have our names on our answering machine and they still leave debt collector calls.

We occasionally get calls for the woman who owned our house before us. We've even got a call for HH's brother at our house, not sure why they had our number for him either...

  • This sounds like you are being prank called to me.

There are online sites you can go to and give it any number you want to show up on someone's caller id.  This number seems odd to show up on your id, which makes me think someone is messing with you.

I googled the number and saw that people can do that. But I really think it's a telemarketer. It has the delay between when I pick up and when they talk. Also- a friend of mine posted a picture on his facebook of his caller ID... The name said "Phone Scam". Real clever, idiots!

  • My cell phone belonged to a Jodi over a year ago and she never gave people her change of address. While I was in Cali here home got broken into and they kept calling me. I finally called them back and said I am not JODI and if you call my phone one more time in the middle of the night I my go off the wall. I am on Vacation and I don't know this chick. Her doctors office called me to remind me that she had surgery. Hell and last week American Family Insurance called me about her claim because she was in a car accident. The lady thought I was lying about who I was. Why the heck would I do that??? Some elderly man calls every once in a while to talk to her I explain to him nicely that this isn't her number any longer. I feel bad for him. GRRRR stupid woman!
  • I keep getting calls from Amerigroup/ Medicaid on my house line. Granted, I'm technically employed under Medicaid, but I would never ever ever EVER give them my house line.
  • I used to get calls for an "Emily" on my cell all the time. It took years for that to stop!

Matt has been getting a ton of calls from a university lately-- he sent away for info on their graduate program in counseling, and they keep calling him at bizarre times (9:00 at night, Sunday afternoons). He hasn't picked up yet. I wish he would so they'd just stop calling! LOL

  • It sounds like a fake number. Apparently it is really easy to fake your phone number and make it look like anything you want (according to HH, who then demonstrated how easy is was).
