Advice please...TMI

So D and I are finally jumping on the baby making wagon...YEA!!!

Soooo...I would like some tips if you guys don't mind. I have a pretty good idea on when I ovulate, but I have never really tracked it. My cycle is pretty regular and I have been off BC since December of 2009, so almost a year. I don't know if I should temp or just bite the bullet and buy one of those ovulation kits.

What do you girls think?

No....click me!!!! Cause I'm the wedding bio! Bloggin it up! Prince Charming stole my heart and we rode off on his white horse... • I think it just depends on how quick you want it to happen and how involved you want to get. I think you charting would be helpful so you can look back month to month. CBEFM are supposed to be very helpful too. Good luck!
  • The only way you can be sure of when you ovulate is by temping/charting so I would definitely do that (I am doing that actually lol). I used OPKs this cycle but I personally don't think they're a necessity. I don't know anything about the CBEFM. Good luck :)
  • Yay!

I agree with Lisa. If you're ok with it taking a year + then just do it when you think you're ovulating and don't mess with OPK's or charting (it definitely can get stressful). If you're wanting to get KU quicker, then use OPK's and chart.

I'm not saying you're going to get KU super fast just because you're charting, but it definitely will help!

Go to http://www.fertilityfriend.com and read their charting course. It was really helpful for me. Also check out the Getting Pregnant board, there are lots of women there with a lot of information about TTC.

  • What is cbefm and opk?

  • CBEFM = Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor. I'm not sure how necessary this is if you're charting and using OPK's... but maybe I'm uneducated about them.

    OPK = Ovulation Predictor Kit

There are lots of acronyms when it comes to TTC!

  • yay!

I agree too.  I think it just depends on how much you want to put into it.  If you just want to do it and have fun then just have sex around when you are ovulating.  That is not to say that its not fun if you are temping and using OPK or anything, just like Tavia said, it can get stressful.

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer either way, just whatever works best for you guys.

Fertilityfriend has great info and I also really liked Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

I agree with reading this. This book provides so much information. Even if you don't go with the charting and temping route there is still information in here that is very useful.

Eh, I just thought that book was mostly common sense stuff. Wink

  • I just kept track of my cycle on the calendar...  They were all pretty much the same from month to month.  I didn't have the drive to do the temping, I am lazy like that.

    GL!
