is this genius or just giving up?

I just read a ?lazy housekeeping? tip. If you don?t care whether your sheets are wrinkly or not when you put them on the bed, don?t bother folding them?BUT so your linen cupboard isn?t a total mess, stuff them inside pillowcases in sets (so in one pillowcase would be a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and 1-3 pillowcases depending on how many pillows you keep on your bed). That way you have bundles of sheets ready to go for when you strip your bed, and they?re not spilling out everywhere when you open the closet door.

I feel this may be a genius idea...and yet I also harbor a worry that it may be a sign I'm just giving up. Stick out tongue

Thoughts?

Re: is this genius or just giving up?

  • haha. i am not sure what the answer is to your question but i love this idea.  there is no way that MH would go for it though.  he folds his socks, boxers, etc. (everything) neatly into his dresser drawer!!
  • Genius!

    Thank you

  • I keep all of our extra sheets and blankets in space bags.  It doesn't help with wrinkles but it saves tons of closet space and hassle.

At least, until we have guests - because I never remember to space-bag everything into neat and tidy sets of duvet+sheets+pillowcase so I have to open like 3 bags to get the right stuff for them.

  • I'm going with genius.  DH never sees the sheets anyway until they are on the bed, so he wouldn't notice.  We usually keep them in shallow bins under the bed.
  • That is genius!! While I might not just stuff them into the pillow case, not sure I could deal will full on wrinkles. I can see myself doing a loose fold and stuffing them into one of the pillow cases to keep it organized. Right now, all my extra bedding is piled up in the laundry room on top of the washers.

  • I dunno???? I think it would drive me nutty, and my husband too.  We share the household duties, and I know for sure he wouldn't go for it.  but then again he is becoming more laxed in his old age.  I still like having everything neatly folded.  Our linen closet is perfectly lined up and folded, I just like the way it looks.  I must be crazy!!!
  • I call it genius!  I never even thought of that and my linen closet is organized, but nothing to brag about.  I think this is a great idea and seems it would be space saver.

    Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, I think if I make the change this is what I'll do too - I'm not sure my anal retentive side could quite deal with just a wadded up ball lol. Stick out tongue

  • Even when we fold our sheets, they still end up looking wrinkled, so I don't think putting them in the pillowcase will make them that much worse.
  • Genius.  But I'd fold them (maybe not nicely, but they'd be folded) before putting them into the pillowcase.  I don't really give a rats arse if my sheets are wrinkled - no one sees them but me and I sleep on them.

This is what I do.  I try to fold them as nicely as possible (which is a challenge with those deep pocketed fitteds that have elastic all the way around) and then place them into one of the pillow cases.  It helps keep my linen closet orderly AND enables DH to "find" everything so he can help with changing the sheets (no more.."I can't find the pillow case...")...I usually handle that task, but he's more willing to do it now that it just reach in the closet and pull out a tidy bundle.  Wrinkles?  Meh.  They seem to relax once their on the bed anyway.
