Have you ever lived by yourself? If so, for how long?
Re: Living Alone?
Nope.
I lived with my family until I was 18. When I was 18, I moved into the college dorms (I did have a single bedroom, but there were 8 girls in the suite, 16 people on the floor). When I was 19, I moved in to a townhouse with a girl from work, a guy from school, and a girl I'd just met who ended up being the made of honor in my wedding. My MOH and I lived together until we both finished grad school (shared a room for two years, shared a house for two years with our own rooms). When we graduated, she moved to Texas to live with the guy who is now her husband and I moved in with my now husband.
I've only truly lived alone for about 18 months after I graduated from college, first in an apartment then I bought my house. DH moved in after that.
In college, I lived in an apartment for 2 years with 2 other girls, 1 summer I lived in a house with 8 girls while I was an intern (slightly crazy) and I lived with a "family" in Spain for a summer (but really it was just a woman and her elderly mother and they were never there so I might as well have lived alone.)

My 101
Yes. Several times.
First time was for a year right after I got out of college. First real job. New city. All that. It was hard, but an experience that I'm glad I had.
Second time was just before I started dating DH. I guess that was about 6 months before I broke my lease to move in with him.
Most recently was while DH was underway. About 8 months total. That included closing on the sale of our house, moving everything we own out pretty much by myself and then overseeing the packing end of my first military move.

CHARTS
Never. In the area I live it's pretty much impossible to get an apartment that's not a complete sh!thole for under $1200 a month so living alone is pretty much not happening even if I did want to.
I lived with the parents till I was 18, went to college and lived in the dorms with roommates all 4 years. Right before I graduated signed a lease on an apartment with BF (who is now my husband) and 2 other girls I went to college with. One girl moved out after the first year so it was just 3 of us for about another year or so and then other girl's boyfriend moved in for about another year. We lived there for 3 yrs then Paul and I moved into another apartment for a year and then bought a house. That's where we are now.
I lived with my Mom until college, then lived in college dorms throughout college (though I had a single room my sophomore year and when I was studying abroad in England--does that count?), with one roommate in NYC, with two roommates in California, with five housemates in DC, and alone in a basement apartment in Bethesda for a year before DH moved in.
