DH has had condo for sale for 6 months. Most of the time people give resonable amount of notice (12-24 hours) when they ask for a showing request. Other times though they only give 10 min and if they can't see it then they will not reschedule. I don't really worry about those because I figure they aren't seriously interested. Is it unreasonable for us to expect 12-24 hour notice? Should we make it a requirement that they give us 24 hour notice?
I know that we need to keep the condo in show condition as much as possible but sometimes its hard to get the breakfast dishes taken care of before we leave for work and not to mention the unpacking from all the wedding stuff.
Maybe this is just a vent because we had to turn down a showing today. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest.
Re: selling condo-showing requests
My husband is a realtor...a lot of times what happens is if he's out with a client showing something and there's a visible For Sale sign on something... his clients want to get in right then, so he tells them people require notice but he'll try. Sometimes they can get in, sometimes not, and if not sometimes they are only looking in that area that day and don't want to revisit it.
Buyers also show up to appointments and hand him an address and say "Can we see this today too?" Same thing, no notice, yada yada. It's frustrating all around - for sellers, buyers, and realtors.
Sorry that happened to you, but people can be fickle as hell. People who really want to get in there and see it will come back.
The showings are scheduled through a centralized showing service so I can't blame the agent for this. If that were the case he would be gone.
Maybe we need to put in the 24 hour required notice.
