So since the wedding, I have gained some weight. And I am not too happy about it. My weight has shifted, too, and I don't know if this is just the weight gain or if my heavier parts are just shifting. Beats me, but I am NOT happy with myself, and it's really starting to impact how I feel about myself. My problem with working out is that I can never stay motivated long enough to keep at it so that it becomes a daily habit. I used to swim about 4-5 miles a day in high school, and then I thew out my shoulder so the only type of excercise I enjoy, I cannot do much of anymore. I need some motivation to keep exercising. I did weight watchers once to help me loose about 10 pounds, but don't really want to pay for that again. I thinking that I need to find a type of exercises that I enjoy besides swimming in order to help me get back into working out. DH and I went to the store last night and got a lot of healthier foods, so we're really going to be trying to eat better; it's just getting me to work out that's my problem.
Anybody else in this boat?
Re: Need some motivation...
One thing that helps me get over the "I don't want to work out" hump is reading a book while I'm on the elliptical or stationary bike. If I really get into the book, I look forward to working out so that I can continue reading.
I also really like Jullian Michaels 30 day shred for an intense workout.
You sound like you're describing me..I too put on a little weight after the wedding, and really am not happy about it. I'm still very much average weight, and have a healthy BMI..but I'm just not comfortable with my body lately.
We have p90x..but i have a hard time sticking with it. We canceled our gym membership, because it gets so boring using during the summer..not sure what I'd like to do..but know I need to do something and walking my dog just isn't cutting it anymore!
Maybe we could start up a weight loss reliability/workout/diet check in on here..
Have you ever checked out the C25K promgram? http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml Me and H did the program before the wedding and then ran in a race. It was a lot of fun, well as fun as running can be. Look into races around the holidays. Most cities do some kinda holiday fun run. Plus you can try to take your DHs into going with you. I found that having the running buddy ( either a friend of DH) it kept me much more motivated. And having the presigning up for the race keeps you accountable.
I am so in the same boat as you too. We need to start our running again! If anyone else is interested we could start a weekly accountablity check in?
This is going to be post and run. Sorry gotta go to work. I'll check in when I have some time
Me too! (As I sit here and eat a bowl of green tea ice cream..lol)
Also, I think many people are less motivated after the wedding because before the wedding we are so focused on looking good in the dress. I was thinking about setting mini goals to stay on target, like a future dinner date, 1 year anniversary, etc..
I'm feeling this too - I was super strict over the summer with what I ate - I didn't really diet but cut out all junk food - with the exception for 40 calorie fudgesicle's for dessert I didn't have real ice cream, potato or tortilla chips, etc. and increased fruits and veggies during my meals. I felt great and worked out every morning for 40 minutes and walked my dog after work for 40 minutes....
I def. haven't been as strict since the wedding and have put on 5 pounds, which isn't a lot, but I'm petite so even 5 pounds can make a difference. It's hard for me to be super strict in the fall/winter especially, I love comfort foods like pasta, etc. Plus my DH could eat whatever and never gain weight. But since we are doing our honeymoon in Dec/Jan I have to remember that in two months I'll need to be bikini ready.
Let's all do a Friday weekly check-in with diet/working out.
