NER: Anything good in theatres now?
The Duchess looks right up my alley. Has anyone seen that? Or is there anything else that's good. I won't see "W" or Religulous, but anything else is fair game!
Re: NER: Anything good in theatres now?
Is the Secret Life of Bee's out yet?
FWIW, W is supposed to be fairly sympathetic to Bush. Liberal producers wouldn't take it b/c it was too kind. Lol.
bwahahah. that's awesome.
My DH would probably love Max Payne. I like action movies. It's not my first choice but if it's really good then I'm cool with it.
I have no idea, but the book was a bestseller, and the trailer looked good...that's all I got. Duchess looks good too...bad reviews though.
Oh, how about Rachel Getting Married? Is that out yet?
Yup. It's not in the theatres near me, but Yahoo says it's out.
I like Ari Fleischer's quote about the movie:
"Hollywood exhausts everybody," he added. "It pretends to be serious, but it's just an anti-Republican, anti-Bush bastion that is making an October campaign contribution to Barack Obama."
Yes, Rachel Getting Married is out. I so want to see it--someone else go and tell me if it's good!
I think Bees comes out today.
All I know is what I've read, and it seems like critics are either loving it or hating it.
It pretends to be serious? Really? The trailer makes it look hilarious! I'll watch and report!
I am kind of a movie-holic.
Saw The Duchess and it was good. I love period flics, though, so that helps. I love Keira Knightly and Ralph Fiennes is creeeepy, in a good way.
Secret Life of Bees is out and looks good--I loved the book so not sure if I will see it just in case it is not as good as is often the case.
Body of Lies-I actually heard it was ho-hum. I was going to see it, but when a friend told me this, I went toThe Duchess instead.
Eagle Eye was good. Plus, it has Shaia La Beouf
Appaloosa looks good as well, but if you are not into Westerns-it probably will not be good for you.
I will probably go see Max Payne with hubby for he has been asking every week if it is out for he wants to see it.
Can I just say that I have no desire to see a war on terror movie...and that these types of movies usually fall flat? And that Chihuahua kicked body of lies butt at the box office last week? And that maybe this is sign to Hollywood that Americans don't give a f*ck about middle eastern terror pics? And that any movie that places Leo and Russel in a desert is just trying to pander to Academy voters?
Thank you.
The Secret Life of Bees, W., and Max Payne are all rotten on Rotten Tomatoes, so I won't be seeing any of those.
This is a dead time in the movie biz. Good movies won't start coming out again until Thanksgiving. Summer and winter are the good movie times.
But isn't he saying Hollywood is a joke, not the movie itself?
I loved Bees the book and the casting looks awesome. I read the book a long time ago so the details are fuzzy. I'm hoping that helps. Plus Dakota in anything is good.
Duchess and Max Payne are also on my radar.
my read shelf:
I listened to a piece on that Rachel Wedding movie, and it sounded quite good. And I can't stand wedding movies.
That's all I know of. Sorry. I'm not normally a movie person although I'll probably go see a few just because I can
