Flame Free Friday

Even though I got up at 10am today, I'm seriously considering taking a nap. Also, I really should do some housework today but I don't think it's going to happen.

Re: Flame Free Friday

  • FI had a doctor's appt. earlier and on our way home, we stopped at Taco Bell!
  • I have nothing flame free worthy.

I'm so tired I really want to go home!

  • I was willing to spend some $$$ on my shoes but I ended up spending $26!

I think they're cute and they're "soft" leather so they're comfy. These are for both "formal" nights on our cruise.

I am not mad at your for this. I had friends in the past who's problems disturbed my sleep pattern.

It means you can say whatever is on your mind, and no one can get on you about it (flame you).

    Very cute!

  • I am normally pretty good about donating to people's causes when they are going to walk, run, cycle, or whatever.. However, I have a sort of friend asking for money for the Heart Walk (her 1st husband died of a heart attack at a very young age, and she walks in his honor).... however, I donated last year.. and never got a thank you.. So, no donation from me. Of course, she isn't a close friend.. so, whatever.

  • I'm not talking to DH until he goes and buys HIS OWN GPS after I had to go somewhere for my new job on a time crunch today and didn't discover that my GPS wasn't in my car until I'd already told my boss I was all set.  And I know hardly anything about that side of town.  I ended up getting super lost and was completely late.
  • I wouldn't let DH buy super-nice dog food today, because A: we're poor and B: our dog is still a dog. (we did make sure that chicken was the 1st ingredient though.)

    You're lucky it's FFF.Super Angry

My FFF confession is that I took today off of work, and I basically slept all day. I got out of bed twice, each time to go to the bathroom and get food. It's not 7pm, and I am still in bed, waiting for BF to show up. It's been pretty awesome.

Do you have any reasonably priced suggestions? I haven't done much research on the topic but I would like to know if there is something off the beaten path I don't know about.Big Smile

What do you consider reasonably priced? What are you currently feeding your dog? I have found that higher quality dog food calls for smaller portions.

Yeah, what she said. What's "reasonably" priced to you?

  • right now he's eating one of Purina One varieties. Not sure which off the top of my head. We paid $35-ish for a 35lb bag. I would be willing to a little ($10-15) pay more if the benefits justified it.

I would switch to Blue Buffalo. Read the ingredients. It's all 100% whole food. One $25ish bag should last you a month, sorry I don't know the weight of the bag. Go to their website for a coupon.

I've also heard good things about Canidae.

  • I feed Des Wellness Core Ocean(stinky fish for allergies) I think it's around 50 dollars a bag for a 35 pound bag, but she eats less then two cups a day. I have also heard great things about Costco's dog food as well as the Blue Buffalo P&R mentioned.

I would transition from Purina ASAP.  FWIW, I started out feeding Des Beneful until I was told it wasn't a good food.

  • Thanks everyone for your recs!!
  • Another vote for Blue!  That's what we feed our two rugrats.  Go here http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ and read the reviews about food.  You will be surprised at how low Purina ranks.  Ick!

  • Of all the grocery store brands, you could do far worse than Purina One. If you can't afford the pet store brands, it's ok. It doesn't mean you love your dog any less. Dogs have been eating those brands forever. As long as they like it and it doesn't make them sick, it's fine. Ask your veterinarian what he/she recommends among the more affordable brands if you are concerned. Don't let a bunch of people online tell you that you absolutely must buy expensive dog food.
  • People on here were merely giving her suggestions and passing links to the Dog Food Analysis sites so she could determine for herself. The site gives detailed explanations about their ratings and fidnings.  No one told her she was feeding her dog the worst food out there, thinks she loves her animals any less then the rest of us, or passed any judgment regarding her financial situation in regards to buying dog food. There are many ladies on the Pets board in the same boat therefore they frequently post links to discount sites or coupons for the higher quality foods. FWIW I believe the worst food is Ol' Roy which actually contains dead dogs in it.

For the most part the serving size for high quality foods are smaller because of the lack of fillers. Therefore the bags will last longer then common grocery store brands. Finally this place ( http://www.intownhealthyhound.com/)  makes their own dog food, it's cheaper then Wellness and excellent.  I am just too lazy to transition Des once again.
