**MB&D** and other J9 moms

I noticed the chicco car seat in your siggy...  Do you have the travel system or just the carseat and what are your opinions?

We're currently trying to decide on travel systems vs. stroller/car seat and which one we one, right now the Chicco is on our short list.  I also really like an Eddie Bauer travel system (Sinclair) that I found last week at Target.  I haven't had good luck with the Graco strollers I've tried though - they seem too heavy and hard to fold/unfold.  We're going to BRU this weekend to look.

Any opinions/suggestions?

  • We have the Chicco travel system. It's nice...no problems at all with the car seat. I like it because it goes up to 30 pounds. The stroller is clunky and heavy but folds up great and is easy to maneuver once it's unfolded. My SIL has a snap n go for her Chicco car seat and really likes that for quick outings. I don't really have anything to compare the Chicco to, but we went this route because it was moderately priced and rated well in terms of safety and durability.

  • We have the travel system too. I love it! Like vh said, the stroller is chunky to fold, but I know it is durable & well worth the price, IMO. My car seat only goes to 22 pounds, so I don't know which one you have vh. We went with the Chicco because we liked it the best and it was rated #1 on Consumer Reports.  I also have a couple girlfriends who went with the Chicco too & they all love it as well. Good luck this weekend & let us know what you decide.

  • Thanks for the info ladies... I've heard so many conflicting reports on travel systems vs stroller frames, etc.  I kind of lean towards wanting the travel system but definitely want something that we can reuse through a couple of kids.
  • We have a Graco travel system and actually really like it.  Even my MIL today was saying how nice it was when we were pushing Nick around at the mall.

  • We have an Evenflo travel system from Target and love it. We chose it because it was a pattern I could tolerate and felt sturdy. It is a little bulkier than some of the others we saw but I wanted a stroller that I felt could safely support my child when she is 1-2 yo + gear.

  • We have a Graco travel system. The car seat and base thing is awesome until baby gets too heavy... which with us, didn't take long. We already had to upgrade Jake to a bigger car seat, and it is one that will last him until he no longer needs to be in a car seat. I also like it because if you decide not to do the travel system thing, this particular seat is rear facing and fits newborns starting at 5lbs. (Weight range is 5-100lbs on this thing!)

For baby #2, I'm not sure if we'll do the whole car seat and base thing again, or just start with a regular convertible car seat. Hmm...

    The stroller though is awesome!!

  • Thanks for more opinions... I'm glad to hear a couple of you say you have and like your Graco strollers.  We went to BRU this weekend and it came down to the Chicco Cortina system and the Graco Stylus system.  I like that the Chicco folds standing up and is lighter but the Graco carseat goes to 35 pounds vs the 22 on the Chicco and is almost $100 cheaper.  I like the folding mechanism on them both but I like the pattern better on the Graco.  Graco wins - its going on the registry.
  • Just FYI, I have the Chicco Cortina system and it comes with the Keyfit 30 infant car seat, which holds up to 30 pounds. Of course that still doesn't make up for the price difference. Wow!
