warts. ugh.

Soooo.... I have a wort on my foot Crying

I don't know how I got it, I've only ever had one other wort in my whole life and that one was on one of my fingers.

Anywho... my mom is saying I need to go to the dermatologist to have it removed, but I'm wondering if I can just use those at home OTC remedies?

Anyone have any experience they're willing to share? It's starting to hurt because it's on the bottom of my foot.

Re: warts. ugh.

  • I have no advice but I have ::hugs::
  • I had a wart on my hand in high school... Went to the doctor once a week for like three MONTHS so she could freeze it off... It didn't get any better and we were so frustrated. So, my mom got an at-home wart remover with like a gel and Bandaids and it was completely gone in a week. Yeah. I don't know if it will work the same for you - but I would try an at-home method before spending a bunch of money with a dr. Good luck! Warts suck.
  • I remember I had one in college, just went to my regular Dr and she froze it off, took like 2 seconds. Think I had tried over the counter things and nothing was really doing the job so just went to the Dr. It probably varies with everyone. Good luck

  • I had one under my toenail when I was younger that required a dermatologist but one on my finger that went away with over the counter stuff. I'd try the OTC stuff for a week or so, but also schedule an appt with a derm. You can always cancel the appt later on
  • I used to get warts all the time, I've used the OTC stuff and had them froze off. For me going to my regular doctor and having them frozen was way easier than remembering to paint on the OTC stuff three times a day (or whatever it is) I only had to go in once and it was gone within a week. HTH!

  • What kind of wart is it?  Is it more of a "common" wart or plantar wart (grows into the skin vs. outward)?  Since you said it was on the bottom of your foot I immediately thought plantar.  I get plantar warts on the sole of my foot from the pressure of running/working out and use OTC treatment for them, but they do come back every few months.  I would say go to your doctor and have them freeze it off so it's done and over with, it takes a lot less time then the OTC stuff.

It feels like a bump, so I think it's a regular ol' wart. I was worried about the plantar kind because I've heard those can be harder to get rid of.

  • Yikes, on the bottom of the foot sounds like a painful place to have one!  I also say you should give OTC a try before going to the doc.  My little sister used to get them from time to time and she's always used that stuff and it got rid of them.  Good luck!
