reno is the only airport in the area, so it is where you fly regardless

Um, yeah... I'm a boarder. H skis. I put him on a board in Steamboat a few years ago and it's a miracle he didn't get a concussion. :-) I'm the only boarder in the group, so that's always fun when we get on flat ground...
we both ski. i should clarify, i ski, gerren is on a whole new professional-huck-yourself-off-a-cliff-jump-out-of-helicopters-level than little old me.
and debdeb, where in tahoe where you guys engaged? gerren took me to napa to propose

Nice. K has been skiing since he was like 10, so he's really good and likes to fly down the mountain, go off jumps, etc. I learned to board when I was 21, so I'm not so good. Especially now that we live here and we have no snow (except last year's fluke) and shitty resorts. So it's always an adventure when we go, which usually ends up in me getting pissed and making K pull me around with his ski poles by the end of the day.
I tried to ski first, but I just couldn't keep both of my skis going in the right direction for long enough to get anywhere. I got frustrated and gave up.
At Harvey's in our hotel room
We spent the day learning to ski and fun in the snow. Later that night we popped open a bottle of Mumm Sparkling (my favorite), enjoyed a view of the lake and lights and he popped the question. I won't tell you what happened after that
Hey, wanna stow away in my bag to Tahoe? We may fly out of BWI... If there were good places to go around here, we could totally do a weekend somewhere.
My knees are another reason I board instead of ski. I like that when I fall on my board, both knees are going the same place and not getting all twisted up funky. Maybe Jeff should learn to board!
Jeff can't snowboard, either. But I can see how if you just have a wonky knee (as opposed to a torn ACL and two torn menisci) the snowboarding would probably be easier on the knees. Skiing is pretty rough on my knees.
I would like to stow away, but I don't think your H would appreciate it, plus my boss would probably get pissy if I took any more vacation
I ski! It looks like me sitting in the lodge sipping wine
I used to ski when I was little (Squaw and Alpine were my stomping grounds) but now I'm a boarder.
Shauni - I've been to K-Wood once and it was a not so great day when I went so I'm not a fan. I love Sugarbowl (not as crowded), Alpine and do like Squaw but not their lift ticket prices.
