Jewelry Party
Last night, I went to a "jewelry party." It's like a Mary Kay party or Tupperware or whatever, except with jewelry. I actually enjoyed myself, and I really liked a lot of the jewelry that was available for sale. (It's Premier Jewelry, if you've been to one of these.) I ended up getting a necklace and a pair of earrings for myself, and I bought my mom's and my MIL's Christmas presents.
So...normally, I hate being invited to these kinds of parties, because I always feel obligated to go and then obligated to buy something. But I actually had fun last night, and the saleswoman was VERY low pressure...she basically told us how to order, but then never pushed anyone to do it. So I'm actually thinking of hosting a party myself...but I don't want my friends to dread coming.
What do you think? How do you feel about getting invited to parties like this? If I did it, would it be a good idea to include a note with the invite that there will be no obligation to buy...just come and hang out with some girls for an afternoon or evening?

Discovery toys is that kind of business as well. Honestly, before I was with DT I would usually like to go to those types of parties. It's usually a fun night out. I have a friend who does tastefully simple and I order from her often after going to a few of her paries. I don't usually go to the makeup ones. Just not my thing. I never felt obligated to buy. It's often the case that I have to narrow down my list of what I want. lol. I didn't have a good tupperware party experience though and probably won't go back to another one of those.
From what I know from DT now most people aren't like you and do not feel like they have to go or buy. I think most people feel like it's a good night out if it fits in their schedule. To get 7 people at your party you usually have to invite 30! And of those 7 usually 5 will order.
I used to have some Premier jewelry. It was nice stuff! Have a party it'll be fun and hopefully you'll get some free stuff!
I love Premier Jewelry! One of my good friends used to sell it, and I hosted a party with her once. The hostess benefits are great with them! And the jewelry is awesome. I actually just ordered a few more bands for one of my necklaces and sent off two of my older pieces to be repaired through another friend who hosted a party. Don't take that wrong either, their stuff isn't cheap. I just wear it a LOT.
I don't mind being invited to the parties. I don't feel obligated to buy stuff, but once I get there I often want to buy the stuff I can't afford.
I try to go with a set amount in mind and not go over it.
