Creatures on my street

image

This week, a rattlesnake was found coiled on one of our neighbor's driveway, and today this is what Matt and Seba saw while riding bikes to the mailbox. Fuccking Texas.

  • Oh. MY. GOD.  that is awful.

  • And dawg apparently he "lives" under a rock at our neighbor's house. That's what our neighbor said. "Don't tell my wife, she'll want to kill it."

In the tarantula's defense, they are not aggressive at all. Just freaky. ::cue Brady Bunch Hawaiian vacation music::

  • I kinda hate you right now.  :Shudder:

  • I hate you so hard right now.  I almost threw my laptop across the floor.

And just when I was daydreaming of coming to visit you and hang out in your bulldog paradise

  • haha, your neighbor is a nice man who must walk around rocks in fear.

My sister got one as a pet as a teenager but chickened out on the whole having to put food in it's cage and he soon went to live elsewhere.

  • Yeah, that makes me never want to visit Austin.
  • Yeah, no one should really bother. Come visit me when we live in Oregon again. In the meantime, I will do the traveling. :)

  • I love Austin!  I was just there  a couple weeks ago and am completely jealous of you texas people and your lakes.

  • I still want to move to Austin at some point in the next couple of years.  I'm convinced those scary creatures don't exist everywhere down there, so I should be able to find a safe spot.  My basis for this theory is that my parents' new house has scorpions but I never saw a single one of those evil critters in our other house (in the same city, and they lived there for nearly 16 years).  That's science.
  • We don't have those in Houston. Probably the only think more desirable about here than there.
  • I have only heard from E on how awesome Austin is, but we have yet to go.  My other travels to Texas have been to Houston, San Antonio, Del Rio, Laredo, Uvalde, Dallas and Fort Worth.  In all of those places I never saw a rattle snake, scorpion, or tarantula, so i think they just must want to be in Austin, and now Austin scares me, even though I hear the art scene is really cool.

  • I don't really understand what people think is so awesome about Austin, but really I think it's just my west coast bias. I'm not a country girl. It's poorly developed, eye sores everywhere, the environment is very harsh. We have a ton of great friends here and the economy is strong. Great music scene I'm sure (I'm not into live music), but I think the restaurants are overrated.

But really....I'm just a snotty west coaster. I'm sure it's great here. :)

  • ACK!!!!!

  • I think it's just that you're a freak of nature.  An awesome, adorable, lovable freak of nature, but still a freak.
  • I told Mr. Spiderman, "Look at that spider!" and he immediately started looking around his immediate vicinity with a terrified expression.  It made him less afraid when he saw the spider on the screen knowing it's in Texas.

  • So does this mean we are getting spider suckers next year?

  • I am generally a big spider supporter, okay?  But I think that dude would cause a bike crash.
