I may be crazy and Question?

So there is the labrador that goes to Doggie Day care where Norkie and Ally go.  His parents are getting a divorce so they decided they just can't keep him anymore(lamewads) I was interested before but because we travel so much 3 dogs in day care would be too expensive.  Today I go to pick up my dogs and the owner tells me that any dog adopted from their camp gets free day care  and boarding FOR Life.

So I took Taylor the Lab home with me for a trial over the weekend.  I'm not sure he's gonna work out.  He's an AWESOME Dog but he's a cat chasher apparently and wants to swim in the koi pond and Norkie doesn't seemed real thrilled because he prefers to be the cuddle bug in the house.  Fortunately, Taylor can live at awesome doggie day care till he gets an home if it doesn't work out.  I think he may be the perfect dog for my sister and her family and they are coming Sunday to meet him.

So, how do I get this guy to leave me cat alone?  All my current pets live in total peace and harmony.

Re: I may be crazy and Question?

  • i don't know hoe to train him to leave the cat alone but it sounds not ideal to take him, even though the free daycare is tempting.

but who gives up their pets for a divorce?

  • Yeah I can't get past the couple that gets divorced and says, "well, clearly this dog will need to be disposed of." That's code for "finally I can get rid of my pet and some idiots out there might buy it as a legitimate reason." Fucckers.

But about the pooch - no idea how you cure a cat chaser. So. You know. You're welcome for that valuable insight. :)

  • Our neighbor's dog used to chase our cat until he clawed the crap out of its nose. So that might work.  Really though, I think there's not much you can do but keep them separated for the weekend, since you aren't keeping the dog.

  • My dogs growing up were cat chasers, until we got our own cats. Once they were gradually, gradually introduced the doggies learned that cats were gentle creatures to be treated tenderly. (They had a bad habit of aggressive play. Then they'd look at us like, "Can you fix this cat? It's broken.")

My parents did it much the same as you would two cats. Slowly, with lots of separation.

"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
  • It makes me so mad that they just hand him over because he's now an innconvience.  He was obviously was REALLY close to them, slept in the bed with them, well feb ( aliitle too well fed)   He is very smart and so so sweet.  It's just so sad.  Thank god for my friend who owns doggie camp, she takes in all dogs that go there and their parents abandom them, they get to live at camp and play with their friends all day.  She is awesome.

Maybe he will get over the cat once it's not new and exciting.  Either way, he's a good fit for my sister.

  •  I can't wrap my head around it. That's effed up! Neither of them wants the dog? Or do  they both want him and are giving him up instead of fighting for custody?

Sorry I have no advice about the cat and I'm pretty sure the way Moxie lunges at the sliding door when one walks by means we could never have a cat in the house.

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
  • Taylor the lab went back today to puppy camp.  His cat chasing become too aggressive and he took up too much room in the bed :)  I decided he wasn't the right fit for my sister either.  This dog was obviously used to sleeping on the couch and the bed and my sister and her H don't allow that.  he's a bug boy who needs to be family's best pal and be spoiled rotten.  His mom needs to go back and take him home and stop all this too hard with a divorce crap.
