  • That's awesome.  What made you change your mind?

  • I decided to try and contact a couple of marketing agencies just to see if I could find a job there.  I got a really positive response and actually already have an interview ready to be set up when I arrive.  Then I realized I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn't take the opportunity to live in southeast Asia for 6 months!!

  • That's great!  Will you guys be in Phnom Penh?  B and I were in Thailand and Cambodia a few years ago for vacation, and it's beautiful.  Just make sure you take your malaria meds and get bug spray/cream with a high level of DEET.

  • Yup, we'll be in Phnom Penh but plan to do as much traveling as possible.  His position ends in June so we may travel for 2 months or so after through Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, China, etc... so any advice you have is totally welcome!

  • Ahhh! So cool! That's going to be an insane amount of awesome.
  • That is going to be so cool.  I'm jealous but not sure that I am brave enough to ever do that.  We better get to see lots of pictures.

  • I am a little late, but that is a great opportunity for you both.  Congrats, and I am so happy that you will be together now.

  • Wow.  I'm late here, and I somehow missed your original announcement.  But that's great news!  So excited for both of you and definitely an opportunity that you couldn't pass up.  I loved the region just travelling through it, and the perspective you will get while living there will be incredible.  When we were in Angkor Wat, our guide was telling us about life there now, and the impact that the Khmer Rouge regime had on her family.  That's so amazing of Eli to be doing that type of work.

Of course, on a selfish note, I'm going to miss you here!  When are you heading out?  Hopefully we can grab a drink or something before you leave.

  • I definitely missed your original post too. How excited for you and Eli, Congrats! We have to meet up soon, when do you leave?
  • That's wicked awesome! You'll love it!

My brother and his GF have done a lot of traveling through that area - are you seeking any specific advice? I haven't been through those parts myself but I've spent a lot of time in Hong Kong (not sure if that's in your plans or not).
