Does anyone else clean their walls?

I wash my walls every Saturday or every-other Saturday, depending on how busy I am. I feel like a crazy person with my bottle of Green Works, scrubbing down the walls, but I'm always amazed at how much grime comes off them. It doesn't take long because I don't do the whole thing, just spots that are touched a lot (i.e., the area around the thermostat, corners, etc). In total, it takes about an hour.

Just wondering, am I the only person who does this?

Re: Does anyone else clean their walls?

  • I do the kitchen, but all of the other walls have to wait until Spring cleaning.

If it makes you feel any better, I feel a bit crazy that if I don't wipe off the window sill and baseboards in the kitchen (by the trash can) then I refuse to call the kitchen clean.

  • Not every week but some weeks it is more than a couple of days, depending on the weather.  We have dogs and they like to rub up against the walls so when it's wet out my walls have a nice sponged mud look to them Stick out tongue and I have to wipe them down.
  • I wipe down all the walls twice a year.

I spot clean where needed with my magic eraser every week.

  • Good, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one.
  • I do this sometimes too.  Especially touch ups in the kitchen and a little in the bathroom because I occasionally use hairspray that ends up on the walls.

I suggest getting one of those swiffer wet cloth or similar product (maybe one of those new ones with the washable cloth so you save some $ on cloth replacements).  I use this to reach cobwebs in the corners because I hate getting on ladders.

  • I clean the walls twice a year and treat spots as needed. MH works in rehabbing homes and apartments and he tends to get spots everywhere!!!
  • I only do once a year when spring cleaning or as needed when there is spots but I really need to start doing it more! I do wipe down the outside of my kitchen cupboards very regularly though and the wall behind the garbage!

  • Twice a year for the main walls, but I usually go around light switches and some of the main areas when I'm doing my regular cleaning.

  • I clean my walls all the time! And i think its very normal. even though the walls look clean, they're not! there's always some kind of spot and even dust collection. whenever i am cleaning i wipe down my wall especially in the kitchen, bathroom, and along the stairway.
  • Oh Yes! I have a Bloodhound and needless to say when she shakes her head, the slobber goes on the walls. So I'm with you, I scrub them once a week.
