  • I can only recall one time that I saw snow before Halloween in PA, but VT is pretty far north.  You can come stay with me til the storm passes, Shauni.  I can just bring you in to the hairdresser instead of an inspiration pic.

  • no, it is not uncommon for it to snow before halloween.  but still, ick.

what is even worse is that when we left CA memorial day weekend in MAY it was stillllll snowing.  aka, we have only had 4.5 months without snow this year.  which is not normal.  i want to cry/get a snow day.

laura, TAKE ME WITH YOU :)  fun!!!

They didn't give us a "like" button, but they gave us one of these Yes under the smiley face button.

Shauni, that sucks!!  I love snow...for about the first 10 min then I'm sick of it and ready for warm weather again.  I can't believe it's already time for snow.  That means brutal cold is coming.  My flip flops aren't ready to be shoved in the back of the closet yet.

  • Like Rachel, I love snow, at first.  It's like I love the IDEA of snow, and then when I actually have to walk/drive/live in it, I despise it.

Shauni - we have a pretty nice air mattress.

OMG.  Yes.  As if people around here knew how to drive before snow... It makes me want to shoot someone in the face when I have to drive when it's snowing.  Like last year when we had 3 FEET of snow and asshats were out driving around in it...

The snow storm last year made me so stabby that I can't even describe it.  I swear, it felt like people were sitting at home trying to come up with new ways to piss me off.

  • here in MI, especially during the first few light storms of the year, people forget how to drive and that peeves me off SO bad. It wouldn't even be slippery or anything and people would drive 5 miles an hour... then the idiots who continue to drive like there isn't snow when there is end up in the ditch around every other corner.

I like whatever season we are in. I am not ready for snow until closer to Thanksgiving.  We do generally have FREEZING Halloweens though.

rachel, remind me where you live??

also, in tahoe last year we literally got snow storms all.the.time that were about 3+ feet of snow.  i think the worst was when gerren got to the chair lift at the mountain he worked at and it was literally completely under snow.  like, you could not see the chair.

furthermore, i will admit, that i drive about 15 mph in the snow.  always have, always will.  i grew up in it, and flipped a car in it.  ever since then, 15 mph is fine for me.

  • I don't mind people who drive slow in the snow, as long as there's actually snow.  I do the same thing.  But some people really are ridiculous, when there's nothing on the road anymore.

I live near Rockville, MD.  Too many people - all of them bad drivers.  I also drive slow in the snow - even in my big-ass Xterra.  I would be terrified and probably never drive in the snow again if I'd flipped a car in it!  Yikes!!

Also - where are the best places to board in Tahoe?  H and I are going there in January.  A friend of his invited us to come stay at their time share with them as one of our wedding gifts.  Yippie!  I've never been to Tahoe.  I'm !#*$($%(*@ excited!

  • I love when I am snowed in and don't have to go anywhere. We walk the dogs in it, MFD shovels and drinks beer with the neighbor and I'm inside drinking my brandy tea.

IF it snows and I have to go to work or drive anywhere, I hate it.

And after the magical snowed in snow, I hate the dirty snow that refreezes and is gross and everywhere in mounds for months.

  • I would so have gone to visit you and you could have taught me to ski!  You could have probably done a better job than the insctuctors at Sierra at Tahoe.  Or perhaps I'm just a lost cause and will never learn.

  • Lol, it's so strange to think that it's snowing somewhere today. In Houston we're grateful for our high 84 / low 58. We got a "cool" front.  I actually wore a long sleeved shirt to work.

We've gotten random flurries the past two winters and EVERYTHING shuts down. I can't image having to drive in real snow for most of the year. I love the flurries, but I don't think I could handle much more!

  • rachel--that's right, i am such a forgetful person!

well it depends on where in tahoe you will be--north shore or south lake?

    north: squaw.  hands down.

    south: kirkwood

do you know where you will be staying??  I AM SO SAD  DONT LIVE THERE ANYMORE!

  • Yuck! I'm sorry you've got snow already. Personally, I only want it to snow the evening of December 23, and then all melt the morning of December 26.
