I feel like we need a weight loss challenge (not a competition) to help motivate those who need to lose weight (myself included).
Since the wedding I have not been watching my weight. I've been eating really unhealthy and I haven't been getting much exercise. I don't even know how much weight I've gained because I am afraid to step on the scale. I need some motivation! I'm like Brew, I only have a few (4) pairs of jeans that fit! On Monday's and Fridays I wear my workout pants because they are stretchy and they fit.
If I don't start now I'll just end up gaining more weight, especially with the holidays fast approaching. My goal is to lose 10 pounds by the end of the year, I'm being realistic. First step is to weigh myself which I will do tomorrow morning. I'll need to keep track of what I eat and of my daily exercise. I will no longer sit on the couch and watch TV, rather I will take a walk or watch a work out video. I will still treat myself to a beer or two but will limit it to weekends only.
Okay, I feel much better. I just had to get that off my chest. Putting it in writing makes it official, now I have to stick to it. I'll also have to create a new ticker to keep track of my progress. I may be the only one, but if anyone else wants to join me feel free to do so!
Re: Weight Loss Challenge?
I totally need this!
I've stepped on the scale once since being home from our Honeymoon and I've gained at least 10Ibs (if not a few more since then). I need to start back tracking what I eat because that really helped me last time (I lost 20Ibs for the wedding)! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one in the boat.
I'd like to lost at least what I've gained back since the wedding and maybe a few pounds, but I'm not that greedy yet.
I too only have a few pairs of jeans that fit, which I've been living in the past 2 weeks it seems like! AND I refuse to go buy jeans that fit me now when I can drop a few pounds and fit back into my old pairs.
I like the idea of doing a support system here with a weight loss challenge - great idea!!!
I need to watch my eating during the week and make sure I get to the gym at least four times a week to make sure my ass does not keep expanding.
I'm happy to report in on a weekly basis.
excellent! i have been awful since the wedding: wine (or vodka!) every night. pasta. desserts. gym 3Xs a week MAX. i am going 4 times this week and i planned a pretty healthy meal plan for the week too--with the exception of the cookies i made last night. grrr.
i am meeting my trainer this week, so YAY. hopefully that will help too. and i am going to cut out midweek drinking (weekends only) and hopefully i can lose 10 lbs before Jan. i would like to lose between 20-25 total, but when i meet with the trainer/nutritionist this week at the gym i will find out if i should aim to lose more or less.
if i find that we are on track with our budget and after i splurge on some new things, (boots, bag, imac) i think i might also sign up for WW. so WW + gym/trainer hopefully = weight loss!

I love this - I think a weekly check in will be good. That way we can talk about what we did right (or wrong) and see what we can change or what can help others.
I weighed myself this weekend, no one was around, just me and Ralph...I gained 6 lbs since the wedding. It feels like 30 lbs though...things are just tight over all. Things were fitting so much better like a week before the wedding. I would like to lose 16 lbs total - that would be great!
Let's do this girls!
I know it would really help me to know what people are eating. I track what I'm eating in a notebook - I am not a depriver...I try to eat less of bad things and more of good without cutting anything out (that has not worked for me).
There's a huge variety of crappy snacks out there and sometimes I feel like I get stuck in a rut with healthier snacks.
Whoo hoo...sounds good to me. I say we do a weekly check in to see how everyone did. Should we start the check in on Monday or Friday?
Let's start a post tomorrow with everyone's goal weight loss. We don't have to reveal current weights but just how many pounds we want to lose.
I'm in...I think I just need to do some toning.
Either the scale at home and the one at work are both wrong and 3 lbs. off, or I lost 3 lbs. and haven't put it back on yet. Yet there is still a stomach roll when I sit down and the stuff that I call hip fat you can see when I wear certain jeans. I want that to go away.
So umm, how do you tone your stomach roll and hip fat?

OMG - I absolutely cannot stand that!

I'm in, although my goal isn't to lose more weight really, just not to gain any... I did really well before the wedding (-20lbs) and so far I've kept stable BUT.... a week at an all inclusive at the end of the month. Then a cruise in November. Then X-mas baking. And since the wedding I haven't gone to the gym even once... so I haven't gained back any weight yet but I'm not staying healthy and I've got an uphill battle on that for the next few months.
And, my biggest issue is always when DH is working late, which it looks like he will be for the next month or two. I have trouble not eating twice, once when I get home and again when he does at 10:30pm(!!!)
So I guess my goal is to get my a$$ back to the gym and make sure I'm only eating supper once a night again.
I guess I'm in too since Deb called me out in the OP.
I'm just a lazy, excuse-making hot mess, so we'll see what happens...
Im in!
Oh and whoever asked about the belly roll and hip fat?? Tae-bo!!! It works wonders for me!
Now if I get preggo I'll just be on the eating healthy exercising game but for right now I can lose!
Starry, I did my first Zumba class on Saturday and it was a lot of fun. You will look ridiculous, but don't worry everyone does. Just keep your eye on the instructor. I'm starting to go every Wednesday and every other Saturday for classes.
