It's D-Day =(

I'm putting in my letter of resignation today

In short I work for a public school working with children who have behavioral and emotional problems and I love my job so much I hate the thought of leaving. Due to budget cuts I now only work part time and only during the school year (which wouldnt be so bad if I still worked full time).  The other person I work with is staying so it won't be so bad on the kids.  My H and I have tried to make it work out but working part time just wont cut it, and he is going back to get his MBA, which he needs to do for his job, so me working part time isn't an option.  I tried to find another part time job but I can't find one that works with my schedule =(

I'm just really down today and upset I have to leave.  I feel so horrible for leaving my class.

When a door closes, there is a window open somewhere.  Good luck.

  • I'm so sorry.

My MIL does something similar.  She also sometimes picks up an additiona job working with individual kids in the evenings, sort of private tutoring.  Have you looked into this?

Thank you all it really stinks having to be responsible!!

I looked into private tutoring, but its just not secure enough to base our income around.  I wish it was I found some parents who were intersted but not enough to keep working at the school and tutor. Sad day =(

  • Sorry to hear - I know you get attached to those kids after working wtih them for so long. :( Hopefully you'll be able to get a FT job at another school doing the same thing!!! Good luck & hugs!

  • I'm sorry to hear! Do you have something else lined up? I just ask because I'm an unemployed teacher and I have been looking for 3 months with no luck. It sucks! Could you find another part time gig at another school and work both? I know a few specialists who do that.

Good luck! It's slim pickings out there!

I'm sorry to hear that yes it is so hard to find a job, I have a non teaching full time job lined up, which pays more than my job now, and I still get benefits.  I wish I could work mutliple schools I would do it in a hard beat, but for whatever reason they don't allow the area I work with to do so.

I hope you find a job soon!! Hopefully in December more will open up!!

Oh, good! I'm glad you have something lined up. Even if it isn't teaching for now, hopefully there will be more jobs in the future!

Good luck with everything and thanks!
