My mom just called. My grandmother has been in a hospital a few days and although she is being released back to her retirement home, things are not great. her heart is weakening. But, the doctors really cannot say. She could live another year, she could live another week. My mom sounds really sad.
She asked me how important it was for Dagger to meet my grandma. To me, it is really important. I adore this woman and I am named after her. She wrote a book once and dedicated it to me. She is my last remaining grandparent and I have a lot of regret over not seeing my right grandfather before he died.
My brother works for American, so we can fly standby for almost free. My parents are coming down this Thursday anyway and my mom offered to fly with us. But, Mr. Winged has offered to go (even though he would have to take off work so I assumed he couldn't).
Flying is hard. I am tired from a poor sleeper. We have something every night this week and the next several weekends are booked. But, I feel like I would never get over it if she didn't live until Christmas.
Re: Uncertainty blows
Go. You'll be so pissed at yourself for not going just because you're tired and frustrated.
Cancel some of your other activities.

Don't wait.
I'm sorry Winger.
The hair grows in thick where the horn used to be.
Go. Don't regret it. Your other obligations can wait.
I'm sorry, this has to be so hard.
Husbands should be like Kleenex: Soft, strong, and disposable.
Just go -- my grandfather met my niece when she was about 2 and 1/2 months old, about a month before he died, when my sister came home for our other grandmother's funeral.
My grandfather and niece shared a birthday (albeit 93 years apart) and the picture of him holding her is just a treasure.
I'm so sorry Winger.
I definitely think you should go.
The nerve!

I knew she was sneaky.
Well, it looks like Mr. Winged cannot go after all. So, my mom will fly down with us and I will fly back alone. nervesnervesnerves
Thanks noisy!
I mean, Dagger did really well on the last flights, it was just that terrible experience with the flight attendant that makes me nervous.
This is a different airline though.

Our one awful flight attendant was on the second leg of our flight home from England. I wanted to murder her. They had the fasten seat belt sign on the entire flight, but lots of people were getting up to walk around and go to the bathroom. Every time Lorne or I stood to try to bounce Will for a minute to calm him down she came over and yelled at us. And we were next to a crusty old man that was clearly annoyed that our child was crying. "Can't you make him sleep or something?" OH THANKS, I HADN'T THOUGHT OF THAT.
You should have showed him your fist and said "I can make you sleep".

Thanks everyone.
My mom and I (and Dagger) are booked to fly out Saturday and I am coming back alone on Monday. My brother is trying to see if he can get us more confirmed seats as an emergency medical thing.
