Help with weekly/monthly chore list
I am a horrible housekeeper. I am also a SAHM and I feel that the larger burden of housecleaning should fall on my shoulders. I've always been horrible with clutter but not dirty (believe it or not!). My husband knows this and does not give me a hard time about things often - but I know it bothers him. I'm embarassed to have people just drop by b/c teh house is always a bit of a mess. I have a 2 and 4 year old and spend my days playing, refereeing and the like. At the end of the day I just don't have it in me to clean. I have the best intentions but the reality is neer what I (or my H) want. He helps every weekend, but I don't feel that is fair. He works crazy long hours during the week (gone from 4:45AM-7pm) on top of grad school and I want him to enjoy family time with the kids on weekends.
So.....I really need a monthly and weekely task chart to keep me accountable to myself. And to help me get organized. Anyone have any templates or examples they can share??
Thanks ladies - I'm really hoping to get myself under control so we can enjoy more free time as a family on weekends.

printfree.com has free printable calendars and I use them to make a monthly menu for dinner so I don't have to scramble figuring out what I'm going to cook each day.

Also, I am a housekeeper, and if you can afford to have someone come even if it is once a month and to do the grunt work like bathrooms and floors while you take your kids out for some fun it will be so worth it! Most cost about $15-$25 an hour depending on what you want done. Ask around first and get recommendations from friends. I have clients who don't mind dusting and organizing their homes but either cannot do the harder stuff, or just don't want to lol...

FWIW, having a 2 year old and a 4 year old at home is just as much of a "full time" job as working outside! So don't feel bad! Even if you are doing NOTHING, the kids want you "there" and "present" with them. So cleaning is hard!
I also know it's hard to tackle clutter when your kids are so young, you are thinking of saving some of the 4 YO things for the two YO, etc.
My DS has just started kindergarten, and I'm FINALLY able to have "bigger" projects where I cut down on clutter, organize, etc.
If your youngest goes to nursery school a few days a week next year, at least you'll have around 2 hours to dedicate to housework (when you're not driving around shopping for groceries, buying things the kids or your dh needs, arranging appointments.... etc.).
