Update

My kitchen is completely empty, like a cave it's so weird, and echoes when you walk by. Got the sink and old a$$ oven out last night, and hardwood floor refinishing started this morning. Yaayyyy!!

Floors should be done on Friday. We bought the cabinets on Sun, and we got the med. brown that we initially wanted, plus the price had gone down! We also got 40% off a counter top from the deal they're running right now [awesome]. It's pretty much been our lives for the past week, not much else to report on.

Our friends are throwing a Halloween party OOT - do we lose half a weekend getting the kitchen back together or haul a$$ after work next Friday to C-bus for the party? I'd rather spend a different weekend w/them actually getting to spend time versus kinda seeing them at the party, plus we would have to find a place to stay. Need to decide soon!

Re: Update

  • Yay for progress!

And I think I'd schedule a different weekend with the OOT friends.

  • Wow, you are getting so much done!  And for the weekend..it's a toss up.  I guess it also depends on how long you want the kitchen not done.  I would pass.  GL!
  • Awesome!!!  We had friends in for 5 days while our kitchen was totally torn apart :)  We had no sink, half a floor, the dishwasher was in place but not plugged in....it was ok, we ate out a lot, but we did lose a week of working on it.  DH got real burnt out on it too, so after we got the sink and stuff in place, we took a break for a while.  We started demo in June and got the major stuff finished by July, but the last detail (backsplash) didn't get finished til December.
  • It would be nice not to experience burn-out b/c I'm so excited to use all the new things that we'll have. I was thinking the same thing about the backsplash - if we don't find something we like soon, then it can wait.

We do have to find a dishwasher, microwave and sink yet, maybe this weekend. Our dishwasher was under recall, but still worked, so we just have to find another GE Profile and we get money towards a new one, sweet! And more savings if we get another GE appliance.
