WWYD?

we usually go on vacation w/ my family every summer (mom, dad, sis, bil, nephew, bro, sil). this year, they are going in june. babe will be 2 1/2 - 3 months old. do i really want to go to the beach for a week w/ the baby and drag all of his/her stuff? note, we all share one big house...

Re: WWYD?

  • JJ wasn't that young when we went on a family vacation for the first time - he was almost 7 months old - but it was so fun. We spent a week at a resort in Orlando [we drove from Oklahoma to Orlando, and he did awesome in the car], and we had a blast. Ultimately though, it's up to you - you may want to sit that one out since baby will be pretty young still.

  • I took Brock to the beach when he was about that age and he did fine. If your in a house you can always go back up when you need a break or to cool off. If you enjoy going, go! You can always wait and make the choice when it's a little closer.

  • I think it would be fine. Nate was 2 months old for our trip. Granted it was only a weekend away, but it was not bad at all. We actually needed to take less stuff with us than I anticipated.

  • We went on a family beach trip for a wedding in May when my nephew was exactly 5 months old. Of course, they brought all of his necessities and we had to stop every 2 hours on the drive up, making it much longer, but we all had a great time! My nephew did great too. All of the bedrooms were really close together, but it was more annoying listening to my Dad snore than the baby crying. haha They said the drive was the worst, but other than that, they're glad they went.

  • At that age, I would think you would need less stuff than you would when they get a little bit older. SIL & fam came out to visit us when we lived in B-more when nephew #1 was 14 months and they had to bring tons of stuff, on the plane. At 10-12 weeks I would think you are the number one thing baby needs!

    Do it!

  • thanks, everyone. sis did it last year when nephew was 6 weeks old. she said if you can get through that one week away, it makes things a lot easier, lol.

they're booking the house soon so they really do need a decision from us bc it would impact how many bedrooms, etc. we'll see!
