Tavia.. question for you

So I was just reading your cute little blog. And I wanted to learn more about CrossFit. Can you educate me please? I have another friend who does it and seems to like it. I need a good workout motivator and this seems to be super successful.. so I thought I'd ask. Thanks! Smile

Re: Tavia.. question for you

  • We love CrossFit! We do a lot of Olympic lifting/military style workouts. The idea of lifting weights (HEAVY weights) was horrifying to me at first...mainly because I didn't want to "bulk up" (which is ridiculous) but now I really like it. The WODs (workout of the day) are very intense and usually around 30 minutes. For example.... this was what we did Tuesday:

    For time...

    25 Back squats

    25 Front squats

    25 OH squats

    400m run

    25 Press

    25 Push press

    25 Push Jerk

    400m run

    25 Deadlift

    50 Cleans

    400m run

    50 Snatch

    400m run

We do each WOD as a group at whatever class time you chose and there is always a trainer there to help and encourage the class.

Here is our box's description of crossfit: http://edmondcf.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1&Itemid=5

I'm not sure where you live, but there are CrossFit gyms all over the metro. Edmond, NW OKC, S OKC, Yukon/Mustang, Moore.... those are the ones I know of.

  • Here is kind of a cool video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w9E-dgLUT4

It shows a lot of the different things we do for WODs...and a lot of the hard bodies CF creates Stick out tongue They show a guys ripped up hand about 0:50 into the video and I'm not going to lie... my hands look like that about 50% of the time.

    Anyway. Hope this helps!

  • Well the video is kind of scary... haha but thanks for answering my question! I'll look into it! Looks kind of exciting!
