Over due birth story...

For those interested...

My due date was 10/10/10, but little Colton had a different plan. Sept 28th, I was having contractions that evening, but they were 15-20 min apart. My dr had told me not to go to the hospital unless either A) my water broke or B) my contractions were 4-5 min apart for an hour. So I went to bed that night, didn't have any contractions, then I got up the next morning, got ready for work and went in. Around 9:15, I started having contractions again...starting out at 10 min apart. So I started keeping track of them. After a while, they were 8 min apart. I told my boss that I was having contractions and she freaked out asking why I even came in that morning. Haha! Around 11:45, I decided I needed to go home. I went home, ate some lunch and kept keeping track of them. They got to 5-6 min apart, but I was still waiting for the 4-5 min for an hour. A little before 2, my H said he was going to take out dog on a walk and asked if I wanted to go. I said yes, but I needed to go to the bathroom first. I went to the bathroom, got done, then felt like I peed my pants. Obviously I didn't, because I just went. So I told him to go on with out me...I made a phone call to one of my friends and she said my water was probably leaking. I went into denial. Yes, I was so ready for him to come, but I couldn't believe it was about to happen. I changed clothes, then went to the bathroom again...heard a pop and a big gush of water. At this point, I KNEW my water broke. Thankfully, H had just walked back in. I told him my water broke and we needed to go to the hospital. He then asks..."How do you know?" HAHAHA! I told him how I knew. We then get in the car and my contractions were 2 min apart, so I was in tears. Ohhhh soooo much pain!

We get to the hospital around 2, they get me checked in really quick and I had a nurse check me to see how much I was dilated, which ended up being an 8 and completely effaced. She asks why I waited so long to come in and I explained what my dr had told me. They wheeled me to a delivery room started blood work so I could get the epidural, which almost didn't happen. The nurse later told me she was worried she was going to be delivering our baby. I got my epidural and it was AMAZING!!!! I could not imagine not having one and doing all of that without. Those who do, I give major props to! They called my dr and as she was headed over, they had me start pushing. It took about an hour and a half of me pushing and my dr told me to look down...I looked down and there he was. They laid him on my chest and it was amazing!!! They then of course took him to be cleaned off, weighed and all that fun stuff while they finished working on me. We had our time, just the 3 of us for a little while before we let family come in. He is such a good baby and I am completely in love.

He's almost 3 weeks old now and I can't believe how much he has changed my life. I have a lot more patience now and I just laugh at getting peed and pooped on. I could just stare at him for hours. I have so much love for someone I've only known for such a short time. He is a blessing and I couldn't be happier!
