I think its time to turn off the a/c....

Right now its around 60 degrees outside, its only supposed to get up to 65 today. So why may I ask does my office have the a/c turned on?! I have my space heater going under my desk, but I have to big a/c vents right above me blowing out cold air. Its October 19th people! Time to turn off the a/c!

Re: I think its time to turn off the a/c....

  • you are not only darling, my office is CONSTANTLY freezing, Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter.  I have my little space heater under my desk on about everyday.  I can't stand it.
  • In my office, it's either arctic cold or fire-blazing hot.  I've been running the space heater under my desk ALL SUMMER LONG!!!  That's the first thing I do when I get to my desk is turn on the heater.  We haven't had the AC running at our house in over a week and Adam mentioned something about turning on the heat last night.  Which I then called him a sissy for because the thermostat read 71 degrees, so it was definitely not necessary to turn the heat on.

  • I have the heat on here right now.  Dave wanted me to wait until Nov 1, but he came home the other day and I was sitting on the couch wrapped in a blanket with a big hoodie on, and I told him that I wasn't able to start supper because it was too cold to get out from underneath the blanket.

So he turned the heat on.  I win.

  • Our house has been pretty cold to. The only problem with turning our heat on though is we have to replace the furnace filter first and we haven't found one to fit it yet.

  • I dont want to turn the heat on in my house either, this morning I saw the thermostat at 60!  But I just dont want to pay for it yet, hahah I feel like my father, he always used to say i'm not turning on the heat til Thanksgiving , but he usually succumbed a few weeks before!

p.s. i forgot to add that in the winter i wear thermals under my work clothes because its so cold I cant stand it!

  • HH has been saying he's not turning on the heat until its absolutely necessary lol He doesn't want to pay for it yet either.

  • Whereas my HH seems to be unaware that heat and air conditioning cost money. ::headdesk::

My boss is always making fun of me and my space heater. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has resorted to such measures to get through the work day. :) I'm all bundled up in a cozy sweater-coat today, though.

  • I wish we could use a little space heater but oh no! If we use a space heater it means that I shutdown my work station my bosses work station and the CEO's work station so I  will be wearing fingerless gloves and a coat most of the winter. Although today it is 81 degrees outside so no worries there yet!
  • Haha Heat I can't imagine turning on the heat! Love opening the doors right now!

Thats terrible that you have to wear fingerless gloves while you work! It sounds like something from A Christmas Carol where Scrooge wouldn't let Bob heat the work room.

Apparently before I started working here, the girls had to fight to have space heaters because they're a fire hazard and we're in a govt building and blah blah blah.  Basically, now they're only allowed if they have the automatic shutoff if it tips over.

  • I've had the AC off at home for over a month! Fresh air has been my friend haha
  • We've had our windows open for a while now. It's been great. I love when we can open the windows, except buses and trashy-club people are really loud. I hope we don't have to turn the heat on for a while.

    I have these too!!!!

  • Oh my gosh.  It was seriously 82 degrees here today.  I wore flip flops, a knee-length skirt, and a short-sleeved shirt to work.  It was glorious.  Our A/C is most certainly still on (at school and at home).  It's "dropping" to 68 degrees tomorrow, though - blah.

  • It's the complete opposite for me....

I'm always burning up at work!  Then again, I work in a kitchen.  Everyone in the buildings is always so cold and wearing sweaters and sometimes coats and I'm walking around with a catering cart sweating my arse off.

As far as heat in the house, we rarely use it in the winter unless the temp drops really low at night and then we will kick it on.  Most of the time we'll just shut it off.  Currently, the AC is still running in our house.

  • Jenny it gets way colder up by you than it does down by me and we use the heat quite a bit in the winter. I think last winter was really bad  but our heating bill gets ridiculous. I'm also a wimp and get cold very easily so that might be it.
  • Yeah... I kinda like the cold and I get hot really easy.  But I also love snuggling up with blankets so I can't do that when it's hot!  Plus the house just seems stuffy if it's warm.

  • our AC hasn't been on in about 2 weeks.  we just open the windows. it has been 60ish during the day here and 40ish at night. keeps it perfect in here, except i never want to get out of bed in the morning.

I know, right?! Living in Texas was torture when I was used to this.
