I need some T's, P's, and Ideas

My little cousin's appendix burst last night, and he had to have emergency surgery to get it removed. Poor kid is only 12! I guess he was sick for a few hours before hand, so when he went to the doctor with my Aunt thinking it was just a stomach bug they sent him straight to the hospital for emergency surgery.

He is in recovery now, and from what I hear is handling it like a trooper.

I am going to to visit him on Saturday, any ideas of what I can bring him? I think balloons and stuffed animals are lost on a 12 year old boy...I want to get him something good.

Any thoughts or prayers for him are much appreciated, ideas on how to make him smile as well! Thanks so much!

  • First of all - poor thing~!!! Sounds like he's doing okay though and will make a full recovery so that is good.

Does he have a nintendo DS or something like it? He'll probably be laid up for a while so maybe a new game for whatever game system he has. Otherwise my nephew is 10 and would die for anything Yankees, but that may not apply!

  • I was going to suggest the same thing. A new game for a hand held device...does he have a laptop or some way to watch DVDs?

Vibes to him for a quick recovery!

  • Poor kid!!

I like to bring cool magazines, puzzle books, comic books, stuff like that, so he won't be totally bored while he's recovering. And some candy never hurts (as long as he can eat it - find out first if they have him on any restrictions)

  • Poor guy!  At least they caught it sooner rather than later!  My cousin went through a scare with her LO and they almost lost him earlier this year!

Anywho....Ditto pp's about bringing him a game he can play on his DS.

  • Oh goodness, it actually burst?!?!  I'll be sending lots of T&Ps for sure!  I'm glad they caught it and I hope he has not infections from the burst!

I'd suggest getting him some comic books, and I like the Nintendo DS idea :)

  • Thanks so much ladies.

The video game idea will definitely work for him, I might have to have my grandma who is up there do a little spy mission to find out what he already has.
