I've gotten more quotes for this company party than I did for any of the services/vendors I wanted for our wedding.
I have a budget of $1600. This is supposed to cover food, alcohol, 9.5% tax and gratuity at 20% for 24 people.
Just because they got a huge discount ($1100) last year on a dinner cruise, they think we can use the same budget this year and find something. Even the cruise company laughed at me this year.
I'm half tempted reserve Chuck E Cheese.
Re: Vent: Company Events
I hate it when people are just too cheap to realize that costs change over time. Maybe give them a bunch of the quotes you've been getting and ask if they'd like to reconsider? Otherwise, look at super cheap places and show them the alternative if they don't change their budget. Sometimes seeing things on paper is a bit more convincing than just telling them it won't work. Sorry you're dealing with this.

I've reviewed terms/food minimums for over 20 restaurants and halls to this point. I've given them a cost breakdown of the 10 cheapest places I've found. Two are within $500 and they want me to keep looking. I even pitched the idea of the company not paying for alcohol, but having it available and they said no.
