How many of you have in the past, or do on a regular basis get your bikini area waxed. Well... specifically brazillian. This is something I've always wanted to try, but always been to chicken to actually get done - mainly because of the pain.
With our 1 year anniversary coming up, and our cruise, I was thinking about getting it done around that time as a surprise for Ted. Well... really for me, but I'll tell Ted is was for him. lol.
Re: waxing
I get a couple of brazilian waxes done during the summer. The first time is the worst, but there are a few things that can make it easier. My waxer has told me to take Tylonal, or Advil before going in, or having a drink first. It really does help. Also, if you get them done regularly you hair begins to thin out, so you don't have to get it done as often.
The pain is pretty bad, but it doesn't last very long, maybe a couple of seconds per strip. Mine last about a week and a half, so the benefit outweighs the bad IMO.
If you've never had it done before, you should go in for a test run first. Some people have no problems at all, others have bad reactions. I've never had a problem, but a friend of mine had a rash develop down her inner thighs for a week afterwards.
HTH, it got kind of long.
I survived the RoLex wedding and all I got was this lousy husband.

I really would rather do laser hair removal so I never have to deal with it again!

I just got my first one two weeks ago for my wedding. OMG was it painful! But yes, only for a couple of seconds and I didn't have any reaction at all. I would totally do it again if what everyone says about the pain becoming less and less each time. However, my advice, like other girls (and I forgot) is to take over the counter pain meds an hour before and what I didn't do again but the waxer told me, I should have waited two weeks of no shaving before getting it done. My MOH also was getting hers done and couldn't get it all because she only waited like a week and two days. The strips need hair to grab.
And as far as how long the wax lasts, I'm back to almost regular shaving.
But hell, if I get results like Alison, I'm so down to do it again!
All of you ladies are braver than I am.
I'm also a major prude and dont want anybody all up in my business unless it's DH or a DR! LOL!
This is me. Also, my skin is super sensitive and prone to rashes
Ditto what everyone else said. It hurts, but it's not unbearable. Definitely take an advil or tylenol. It's a little strange at first that some random lady is all in your business, but once you realize that she does this to many people, it's not a big deal. Some places hurt much more than others - places where the hair is more rooted. It is supposed to be less painful the more often you go. I am too cheap and lazy to do it on a regular basis, so I don't know but I have a friend who says that it hurts, just not nearly as much. I do it for special occasions/vacations - so I think I have done it 5-10 times.
Oh and as someone else, said, make sure you have enough hair! It can be a little embarrassing, but you have to have enough for them to wax.
I've never had this done personally, but my younger sis is a cosmetologist and learned how to do bikini waxes in school. I have a hard enough time getting my eyebrows waxed, so she said I would probably never tolerate this. Although, I am intrigued now that I could potentinally save a ton of time with shaving weekly... hmmm...
And, Samantha, I love your point! LMAO!!!
