DH's Birthday today, Suggestions?

The poor guy had to take last night off (3rd shift) because he had to go practice for his lab practical today.  So he will be at school from 9-6:30 on his birthday.  I think I'm going to try to leave work a tiny bit early so I can attempt to make him lasagna for dinner. I started making chocolate whoopie pies for him last night. I'm going to frost HAPPY BIRTHDAY - a letter on each pie for him.  Other than that...... I dunno what I'm gonna do.  Were pretty broke, so I can't really go all out.  His parents are taking us to dinner tomorrow night. And my mom is buying him stuff to go to the gym.  But his wifey doesn't actually have anything for him :(   Does anyone have any ideas?

  • I love the whoopie pie idea!!! How about some wine and a movie??? Not too expensive and adds a little romance :)

Glad you like the pie idea!

Yes, yes, Wine is definitely good  :)  We do watch movies pretty often, so I'm hoping I can think of an alternative for that... Maybe just a different type of movie than we would typically watch?  Thanks for the suggestions!

  • I hope I'm not too late, but my husband and I love to play board games or card games...it relieves some stress.  Well...we also watch HGTV and dream about our future home, but that's not the best birthday activity ever.

    Also, wine makes everything better.

  • I'm a little late too.  But I will share my idea anyway.  What about coupons for a personal massage.  He could cash them in whenever he wants and you will probably benefit from it too!  It would be a great addition to the wine!

Oh my gosh, the recipe made so many!  I would gladly share!!  I think I'm going to start passing them on to family members so I don't have to eat them all Stick out tongue

We had a really fun night and I think he enjoyed his day after all.  Thanks everyone for giving me ideas!

The coupons are a good idea. They don't really cost anything and it'll be more personal than buying something. Add those to the wine, dinner, and a movie and you'll be good.
