Need ideas for Grandma's Christmas gift
We are celebrating DH's families' Thanksgiving/Christmas in exactly 4 weeks before his Grandma goes to Florida for the winter. She never gives us any ideas for gifts for her and asks us not to get her anything. However, she spends tons of money on DS and gives DH and I each $100. Last year we got her a TomTom (that she can't figure out how to use) and a calendar from shutterfly. This year I'm going to frame a family picture we had taken last weekend and give that to her. Any other ideas? She became a widow a year ago, has a little Shitzu, does some golfing and likes to surf the web (you'd think she could figure out the TomTom). TIA!

Re: Need ideas for Grandma's Christmas gift
does she have friends down in FL? I'm assuming she has a condo of some sorts. If she has people she can go out with, I would suggest a gift card to a resturant down there. Go to the local board on here that covers the area she lives in and ask for suggestions. I have done that numerous times in the past and received some great suggestions. Or some unique shop. I asked the Houston Board for suggestions and someone suggested a shopping area near where my friend lived. When I checked out the website, I noticed a shop called the Chocolate Lounge, so I ordered a gift card on-line.
Maybe a gift card to a golf course down there. Maybe include a lightweight sweater or jacket from a Pro Shop.
But I would go the gift card route - something to keep her busy down in FL.
My uncle gave my grandparents one of those digital picture frames that cycles through photos. He loaded it up with pictures of the family over the years. My grandparents LOVE it.
The gift card idea is a good one.
Some other ideas: perfume, a gift spice set from Penzeys (if she cooks or bakes), jewelry, or a subscription to a magazine she likes.

Thanks girls! I think we have it narrowed down to some jewelry (maybe with the grandkids names on it) like this:

Or a Kindle, since she likes to read.
