I have a question. As a lot of you know, Rusty and I just bought our first home. I noticed in the mornings since we've been here that every morning, there is an older gentleman that walks his dog down our street. He has one of those retractable leashes and allows this dog to do whatever it wants. The man walks so slowly and if the dog decides it wants to walk into someone's front yard, the man allows it. He doesn't retract the leash or tell the dog to come, he allows the dog to walk so far up into the yard that I've even seen the dog on the front porch of some of these houses. I always found it very rude.
This morning, my dogs were going crazy at the big window that faces the street. I went to see what was going on, and I saw this man standing almost in our driveway and his dog was in the middle of our yard scratching at the ground. I couldn't get out there in time to say anything to him as I had just gotten out of the shower and had just a towel on. I watched him walk away and he let him dog walk through my flower bed around our mailbox!! I just went outside to see if he had done any damage to my flowers or to the place he was scratching at...no damage, but a huge pile of dog poop! Seriously?! You guys, can I do anything to stop this guy from doing that?? It's ridiculous and soo rude. Should I just try to catch him tomorrow or whenever the next time I see him is and confront him?
Re: what should i do??
I would pick up the poop and leave it on his steps with a note saying "You left this in my front yard. If I continue to find it there, I will continue to leave it on your steps."
You know, I'd be equally ticked about the dog making mine go crazy barking. My next door neighbor leaves her dog outside all day while she's at work or out on the weekends and when there are other dogs being walked near their fence he goes crazy and Campbell's room is right above all this action. It ticks me off to no end.
But, I have no advice other than try to be prepared to run out there when he's there next. Nick had to go over and talk to our neighbor.
I would try and catch him and tell him that he needs to pick up after his dog.
This is why I don't mind carrying my poop bag when I walk Sadie. At least people will see we're not the ones that are not picking up after our dog.

That's why we do it. I'm always hoping that our neighbors will see that we're trying to be respectful neighbors and good dog owners.

I would wait for him to come around again and let his dog poopie.. Go outside and pick it up and run down the street and give it to him and say " Excuse me sir, I believe you left this in my yard, have a nice day
"
He may get the point, if not put it in a paper bag, follow him home light it on fire and throw it against his front door.. This is a little more direct.. Some people are animals..i like this idea!!!
