Pet Images Country Inn

Has anyone boarded their hounds here?  We are boarding Rupert our basset hound here in a few weeks.  I have heard good things, but get nervous about boarding.

They seem very nice and helpful, but the last time the dog are let out at night is 7pm and then at 8am the next morning.  That seems like a long time to me.  That really is my only concern.  Just thought I'd see if anyone has used them before.

I should add that I am a little over protective of my dogs.  Rupert has only been boarded once before at a different location and did well, but I was so sad dropping him off.

IMO that is WAY WAY too long!

why aren't you going back to the old place? i would look for somewhere else. 13 hours between potties is a LONG time for a small dog with a small bladder.

That is what I thought, my MIL has used them and the place has been around forever.  IDK I think it is too long, but there are not many alternatives near by.

The place we brought him to before was nice, but it did not allow for any interaction with other dogs.  I didn't like that because he got let out 4 times a day, but had no one to play with.  Since we will be gone for 3 days I feel bad basically having him in the kennel and then out by himself for 3 whole days.

Both places have been reccommended by our vet.  I suppose I could ask the vet if they reccommend anyone else besides those two places.

  • I should also add that if Rupert goes to Pet Images he is getting a suite that is really nice and he gets to socialize with other dogs a few times a day.

I think the other place lets them out around 8pm or 9pm and then lets them out in the morning around 7ish?

  • I guess if it were me I would probably pick the place where my dogs didn't interact with other dogs. My feeling is you just never know how other dogs are going to react (especially without their owners) and it's so easy to pick up a parasite or an upper respiratory infection (not included in bordatella)from another dog. Good luck. I know how stressful it is in leaving your pets.

Thank you for your thoughts on this!  I really hadn't thought about the possibility of infection.
