Hi ladies,
I recently went to my gyno due to some pain to the lower left side where the left ovaries are. She sent me to get an ultrasound and she just called me with the results. Apparently they found small cysts in the left ovary and i'm freaking out. She said to repeat the ultrasound again in 2 months and to see if they get bigger.
We wanted to start trying next year so now i'm kind of worried..
Please let me know what you think, if any of you have been in this situation.
TIA
Re: freaking out
thank you
I'm pretty sure I had a cyst before that went away on its own before I could make an appointment with my gynecologist. It's a common side effect of the IUD I use as birth control.
In general, I don't think cysts are that uncommon, but it's good that your gyn wants to keep an eye on it. I wouldn't be concerned unless it gets bigger or bursts.
I've had many cysts due to Polycystic ovarian syndrome. Some have burst (its pretty painful, not gonna lie) but most just go away on their own.
I had a cyst burst and I got pregnant 3 months later. Fortunately I didn't have problems conceiving with it, but many women with PCOS do.
That being said, if this is a one-time occurance (which is likely) it shouldn't affect you from trying to get pregnant. Your doctor should be able to tell you more about it.
Sara, Friend?
glove slap. I don't take crap.
Common. The liquid cyst get bigger and then shrink. They'll sometimes cause you some pain especially during ovulation/periods. Sometimes it can be pretty bad. Sometimes they'll start getting really big and won't shrink, which is what your doctor is looking for in 2 months. If this happens they may have to drain the cyst. It's a pretty easy process.
Bad cysts, the ones you have to be worried about are the solid ones. I had a dermoid tumor on my ovary that caused me to lose it, and I was in some serious pain (like morphine didn't help kind of pain). These are very rare though.
I was 17 when my first cysts were found. The OB-GYN actually told me that my scarring was pretty severe it looked as if I had had many miscarriages, I had only had sex a few times at that time and had started BC at 16 so there was no chance of a pregnancy so we blamed it on the cysts. When I have significant change in my body such as lots of stress, change BC or Stop BC and when I got off the Depo shot, are when my cysts rupture and cause extreme discomfort. I have gotten used to the pain and my cycles are normal. currently I am off BC and haven't had problems with cysts.
I wish you the best of luck TTC!
