Getting mail with my new name!

Just opened the mailbox today for the first time in a few days...have received some of my new credit cards/debit card with updated "Mrs." name attached. :-)  FUN!

Soon my license will arrive, and then DH and I will go to the bank and join accounts!  Then just a switcherooo on the ol' passport and we're a go.

How is the name change process coming along for you girls? (If you're doing it, that is)

Re: Getting mail with my new name!

  • Oh, that must be so fun!!!  I am being completely lame and haven't even started yet :(  There are always so many things on my to-do list, I never seem to get to it.  But I'm moving it to the top of my list!

  • Haven't officially started the process yet either.  However, we went to a wedding this past weekend and our name tags had DH's last name on mine. We have also gotten a wedding, baby shower and two Christening invites with the new Mr. and Mrs. last name.  So, I'm easing into the change-lol.  It is gonna busy a busy next couple of months.

  • I was really proactive when we got back b/c the school year was starting and I wouldn't have time to hang out at the SS office or DMV...

I only have one more account (a retirement one that I need a notary to sign on) and I'm done!  Hooray!

  • I know the feeling. I showed my new ID to everyone at work. Yesterday I got my new health coverage card, and today I scheduled my first docs appt with my new last name... it was so weird spelling it over the phone :) I love it.
  • I am all done! I just received my new passport and my new credit card. When I went to the doctor last week they called me Mrs. B and it freaked me out. I still think the hardest part is signing the new last name, I can't get used to it and I really need to practice.
  • I got everything switched over the week we got back from the HM. We use walkie-talkies at my work and my manager was talking about something that I did and used my new last name, it threw me at first

  • I am nearly done.  I just sent messages to my renters insurance and electricity company this week.  I still have to do my passport too.  I am also waiting on a couple cards (health insurance, one credit card), but they should come in soon.

It is still hard to say my new name sometimes.  Every time I write my initials on something at work I do it wrong...

  • I also switched everything the week I got back from HM.  At my job, my students call my name on a daily basis and they have to put my name on all of their papers, so I hear my name hundreds of times of day.  It is slowly sinking it.  I agree that the hardest part is signing it.  I had to sign about 30 letters the other day for work with my name on it.  That was good practice.

  • Everything's been completed since the week after the honeymoon!  I was ready to get on that Mrs. train and have everything done.

I haven't changed my credit cards however.  I totally dread calling the customer service and getting that taken care of.  I was told my school ID card doesn't need to be switched over since it's my student # that matters, not the name on the card.  I just use my school ID if anyone asks to see an ID with my credit card.

Credit cards were the easy part.  I was pretty much able to do everything online.

Really?  'Cause that would be awesome!  I hate calling the credit card company and talking to them.  I'll have to check online!

I never listen to the phone prompts, I just keep pressing "zero" until the machine gets mad at me and lets me speak to a real person.  Once you do, it's easy.
