Boo! Surgery :(

So, not only do I still have the stupid cyst that hasn't budged at all, but now it has a little friend on the other ovary too. :( I have laparoscopic (sp?) surgery scheduled for next Weds. to remove both cysts. While they're in there, the doc is going to check my other lady parts too. Fun times. Crying I swear, this just isn't my year...

but look at it this way, the year is almost over so you can start having a good year soon. and you lost a ton of weight this year which is pretty awesome!

  • I'm sorry about the surgery, but it will make you feel better. While they're in there, see if they can do something about your gallbladder. Maybe they can take it out at the same time if necessary?

I would, but the gallbladder issues aren't confirmed yet. I'm still waiting for the scheduling service to call me to arrange the function tests to find out if it needs to come out. It sucks. It's all in limbo. Meanwhile, the cysts need to come out. I've put it off as long as I can.

  • it sucks that you have to have surgery, but hopefully it will provide some relief!
  • I'm sorry to hear that.  I had to have a similar procedure done a few years ago.  Recovery wasn't too bad but if you have (TMI warning...) any endometriosis and they do a D&C or anything like that you are super duper fertile afterwards, just a big ol'heads up on that!

  • I am sorry you have to have surgery. I hope it brings you some relief, though!

Thanks for the warning! Good to know! They are going to do a hysteroscopy and possibly a D&C, if warranted. They'll also do a dye test of the fallopian tubes while I'm knocked out. Joy of joys!
  • Aw, I am so sorry to hear that you are going to have to have surgery. I know that it won't be pleasant, but hopefully it will address the problem and avoid future problems, too. And ditto the above - you have accomplished some AMAZING health goals this year!! No need to poo poo on this year! Hang in there!

  • Hey! After being married for 2 mths, my husband and I went to dinner and while sitting at dinner my appendix ruptured!!! I had to have laserscopic surgery!! I am such a baby when it comes to pain and I must say it is painful but very managable!!! They gave me some good pain pills and I just slept!  You have very little scars! Just be careful of infection! and be prepared to be down on for at least a week! But very very managable!! Good luck!!

I'm sorry to hear about the cysts and hope the surgery goes well. You do have a lot going on, especially with your dad and all (how is he, BTW?). On the other hand, you had tremendous weight loss success!

    Haha true. :)

There's not really much of an update on my Dad. He continues to show improvements. He's eating better and is slowly putting on a little weight. They are talking about removing the Denver port they drain fluid from. We're actually doing a day-trip down to WR to see my folks and to spend time with him.
