Let's Get Skintimate

HAH! I'm a dork.

What products do you use on your face? And what kind of skin do you have?

I've seen GREAT improvement since the wedding (aka: massive stress) is over, but my skin is still more break-out-y and oily that usual. I have been really playing it safe lately and washing with unscented Dove soap in the evenings, just warm water in the morning, and moisturizing with Aveda mositurizer twice daily. Not really working. Need some real products.

All recs welcome! :) Thanks!

  • I neutragena grapefruit morning and night and use covergirl moisturizer at night. Nothing special for me! Sunshine was using some oil thing tho and loved her results if im not mistaken.
  • I use Aveeno foaming calming face wash and Aveeno Positively Radiant moisturizer with SPF 15. I have combo or sensitive skin and I have tried every blasted thing out there. Aveeno has been really good for me.

I also use whatever eye cream I get in gifts with purchase items.

I am so bad about the night time regimen and I need to step that shizz up.

  • I use Pevonia products.  They're mad expensive (spa-grade products, only sold @ spas or online), but a bottle of cleanser lasts me 6 months...when I average it out, it's really not any more than the stuff at the drug store.  Plus, it's all natural, botanicals, so it's not all chemically.

I have crazy oily skin and am still prone to breakouts when AF is coming or I'm super stressed.  I've tried virtually every OTC product, plus used Proactiv for about 3 or 4 years until it didn't work for me anymore.  I've been using Pevonia for about 5 years now and it works as good as it did when I started.  Love it.  Order it online @ pevonia.com (cheaper than @ the spas b/c no retail markup, usually get free shipping, plus free samples!)

ETA:  They have a bunch of different lines depending on your skin type - my BFF has polar opposite skin and also uses the products for her dry/sensitive skin and has equally awesome results.

  • this post got me instantly humming "let's get physical, physical!"

in all (???) seriousness, since the wedding/honeymoon, my face has been AWFUL!!!!  i think it is because i am not dieting!  just this week i got THREE GIANT MOUNTAIN SIZED PIMPLES on my face.  and two small ones.  un.believable.  i generally have great skin (i promise im not tooting my own horn, but really, i have good skin!) and i suck at taking care of it.  i buy whatever face wash is on sale, use that when i shower, and that is it.  i dont wash at night, i dont wash in the am, i dont remove my makeup if i dont shower, etc...

hopefully now that i am back on track with better eating, my skin will thank me!

  • Shauni - my skin has been awful the past two weeks as I've been eating like a huffamouse. Hoping getting back to eating well and drinking more water will be a godsend in the skin department.

  • Mine has been oilier lately too and it sucks!  I started getting acne again 1-2 years ago, so now I use ProActiv.  It does help me, but it doesn't work for everyone.

  • My skin has been horrible since the wedding. I think it might be because I was eating really well before and during the wedding then the all inclusive honeymoon hit and it's been down hill ever since!

I do have to recommend MAC moisturizer. It's amazing. I think it's called lush.

    September 25, 2010!
  • I know I've said this a few times to you guys, but I still stick to my oil cleansing method.  http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/  It sounds ridiculous, but I swear I NEVER (really, never) have zits anymore - even with crazy wedding stress, and even if I skip a day of "washing" my face.  And because it's oil, I don't have to spend money on moisturizers either.  I don't think any product could ever convince me to go back.

ETA:  I forgot to say what skin type - my skin has always been what I consider "normal" - not overly dry or oily.  I used to get oily on my nose and forehead, but not really anymore b/c the oil balances the oil production of my skin.

  • I did try it for a while! But ran out and got lazy and never remixed. It did make my skin baby butt soft tho! and got rid of my redness :-) Maybe today I'll go grab some more sunflower oil...good paln.

Nice!  It does make your skin super duper soft, which H loves.  I also love it b/c it's the only thing I've ever found that gets rid of the blackheads on my nose.  Someone actually commented to me right after I first starting using it, "Your skin is glooooowing.  OMG, are you pregnant?!?"  Ha ha.

  • I have pretty normal skin with my T zone getting the most oily. I usually use the neutrogena face wash and a clinique night time cream and then I started using aloette which doesn't use fragrances and was really good for Jeremy's face (who has SUPER sensitive skin) and his redness. It seemed to make me break out more but I also started using that a month before the wedding so not really sure. I have heard that proactiv is good but it only dries your skin out...not sure how true that is.

  • I have crazy skin so I went to a dermatologist before my wedding and got some face creams. I use atralin in the morning and acanya in the evening and it has helped tremendously!
