That's how much I made last night at the gold party! I was shocked I got that much. Some lady got over $700! A lot of people were turning in old class rings and since they can be heavy, those got a lot more money. I'm just not ready to part with mine. DH lost his and then when we were on the HM some moving company found it randomly and sent it back to him, so I know he doesn't want to get rid of it again.
Thank you, exboyfriend, for at least not being cheap on the jewelry gifts, lol!
Re: $271!!
SO, are gold parties kind of like tupperware or candle parties or jewelry parties? Someone you know is involved in some sort of a franchise, and they decide to host a party, and they measure your gold there?
To be fair, i don't know anyone in any of those types of businesses, so i never get invited to this kind of stuff (okay, I'm not really complaining about that), but the concept of a gold party intrigues me, as I have some things I'd probably sell...
Whoo hoo good for you! Have you ever taken your stuff to a jeweler or pawn shop to see how much you could get or was this your first time doing anything like this?
Being a teen in the late 80's and early 90's I think my sisters and I could pull a small fortune between 'spinny' rings and nameplate necklaces. Okay wait, actually that is all my sisters I slowly lost most of my stuff.
That's great! Glad you got a good amount of money.

Kathy-there's no sales pitch or anything to buy, you basically show up, and when they call your name you hand them your bag, they go through it, divide it between types of metals, weigh it and then calculate your cash. They do ring a bell and announce you earnings. Some stuff they didn't take, so they just give that back to you.
The host of course gets a percentage of the money handed out and I also believe she gets a percentage from parties booked off hers. I didn't mind going to this one for SIL b/c I know they are using the money toward the cruise and with 5 kids and trying to fly, it's going to be expensive.
Pooks-this was my first try to sell anything. I had thought about going to a cash for gold shop in a strip mall near my house, but had yet to make it there. Some women at the party said they felt they got ripped off at those places, so who knows.
