Yes. I just found a mouse in my cabinet.
We've had a ton of problems getting this house (which is important to us, since it was my hunny's grandparents first home) into livable shape. I really regret to say that we finished moving in during the begining ofJuly and we have made shockingly little headway.
We are almost completely free of our Roach problem (the family has rented the home out, and the last tennants were absolute slobs). However, after rinsing the cabinets out with bleach water -- there is a mouse.
I want to get rid of the mouse, and we have pest exterminators working on our Roach problem. (The exterminator noticed rat droppings beneath our oven, and told us that at one point we had rats. We all assumed, since we hadn't seen hide nor hair of one since moving in that they had vacated. Silly us). I want to get rid of the Rats/Mice/Rodents. But I really don't want to kill them.
Tell me truthfully....is there any other way to salvage this situation, or must we really kill all these mice?
Thankyou so much. And sorry for the rather jumbled and lengthy post... I'm pretty frustrated and almost hysterical.
Re: A Mouse
we live in a renovated loft of a pole building in the country. and we have mice. usually they stay downstairs, but weve killed at least 3 upstairs in the last few months.
i have no problem killing them, so im no help to you.
just keep food sealed tight and the kitchen clean.
also, after seeing one in my office, (it has a door to the bathroom), blocked off under the doorways to the office and the other door to the bathroom all night, it was trapped in those 2 rooms, it got stuck in the toilet, like in the water. my husband found it, still alive swimming. then killed it with the mouse trap that it hadnt been interested in. again, not much help, but i sympathize.
I appreciate it! I feel less like a bad....anti-rodent-person, I guess. I just don't know how we haven't seen them before???
I won't mind killing them if that's what has to be done to keep our pets safe. But if it's not the only option, I'd really prefer to try something less lethal. I don't care if I am a wuss.
If you're going to kill them, don't use those horrible turn around traps that kill them horribly. Make sure you keep all food products in containers including pet foods. If there is nothing to eat they wont stay around too long. Make sure you have no holes and weak spots where mice (and bugs) can get in.
They have live mouse traps where you catch mice and let them out (outside) The thing about that is, you have to make sure you put them somewhere not right next to your house.
You can also plant mint around your house. Mice don't like it...
I have pet rats. I'm not much for killing things unless I have to.
Thank you so much! I will definitly have a walk-through with the honey to make sure there are no holes for rodents to wiggle in, and we'll be storing the pet food more securely.
T0he mint idea is awesom-- I never knew that. I shall be going overboard shortly!
I have pet rats too . . I definately sympathize . . . The only thing that really terrified me about having rats or mice was that my rat would have tons of babies by unidentifiable intruders . . . It's good to know they have humane traps . . what do you do just bait them with peanut butter and wait or what?
