update to eagle of failure awards

lia nominated my cousin last night (can't believe i didnt think of it first!) for this crazy stupid move she made:

my cousin is smartttttt, beautiful, talented, educated, top of her field, etc.  she is 23 and just moved into her own place.  she invited myself and some of her other friends over for dinner last night. said she was making quiche.  i get there a little early to help her out, as she has literally only cooked three meals in her life, and she is cutting and chopping and cooking.  keep in mind she does not own any knives except for steak knives, (not so good for the chopping part!), no bowls for things like salad (we ate it out of a pasta pot), and all of her pans suck (bacon burnt the crap out of the pans, almost caught the house on fire).  so we finally have everything ready and assembled and just need to start putting stuff in the pie crust.  so i say "katie, where is the pie crust?  i will start putting it all together now" and she goes "here ya go" and hands me A GRAHAM CRACKER CRUMB DESSERT PIE CRUST!

after explaining that no, you cannot  use this kind of pie crust for QUICHE, we ran to the store and got real pie crusts and it was a great success.  but still, really funny and REALLY stupid!

needless to say, i invited her over this weekend to learn how to make chili, cornbread, spiced cider, etc :)

  • Too funny!  And what a nice cousin you are to teach her :)
  • So great. Maybe dessert quiche could become the new thing in VT?!

You def. should take her under your wing! You're a great cook, and us clueless little things really appreciate your guidance! :)

  • That's too funny!! Cooking is one of those things where experience is just the best way to learn.
  • Haha love it!  Speaking of quiche, I found a recipe the other day for mini sausage quiches and I am so trying it this weekend.

  • Reminds me of that episode on Friends where Rachel tried  make dinner but the pages for the cook book got stuck together.  The recipe started as a Beef dish but ended as a Trifle dessert recipe or something like that. hahaha
